Has there ever been a Toronto MeFi meetup, or are we really the cold, aloof, world-weary types we are fabled to be? If someone were to suggest meeting at Dora Keogh on April 3 around 8 pm, I wonder what would happen... dream sequence sound fx...

It's right by Broadview station on the Bloor line, so it's pretty accessible by both streetcar and subway.

I might show though I rarely venture out between December and May. My vote is to push it till we don't have to wear coats.

i was thinking a meet up would be good after the first 2 weeks of june. i may have loads of free time for a month or so, depending on some productions that may or may not fall thru'. i think the god complex (who's in bc...?) will be in the area visiting his g/f at that time too. maybe we should convince all kinds of mefites to vacation in t.o. this summer - show us some SARS pity hehe - and make it international...

There may be more people coming than this thread would indicate. I know one member who is mostly a lurker; he emailed me saying he wants to go. So I think I probably will come too. Oh, and can we get Matt to put this on the sidebar or something? I bet lots of MeFiers don't hang out in MeTa.

Heh. Someone I know referenced an epsiode of The Monkees where the tall gent's toque was called "the green woolen hat." amberglow, you know it's important when a group has a word for an item rather than a description!

I'd like to show. I like Dora Keogh. Groovy little place. IIRC Dora received favourable mention in this book, Notes on a Beermat, a tour of local establishments.

Sure, lurkers can come, but they have to stay in character and not say anything. Non-member lurkers can come too, but they have to stand outside in the cold and tap forlornly on the glass while we members do our goldfish thing:-)

I haven't been there since Robbie Burns day. Minus 20, on the 25th of January and I was wearing a kilt.

Great pub, if a bit smoky. I miss living down the street from it. I'm in Kingston now, and since I live in the suburbs, I rarely get out to the pubs at all.

I refuse to remain quiet if I attend. Just try and stop me...

So, how long is such a thing likely to run? My other meet-up has reservations at Chiado at 7. I assume Chiado is probably at least a couple of hours worth of dining experience. But perhaps after, I might be able to join the group at Dora Keogh?
