Am I dating a sitcom character?

I went on a date with this girl tonight, and I swear she looks just like this actress on this tv sitcom I used to watch. Problem is, I can't remember the name of the actress or the show. It was on mid-90's, probably comedy central. During the intro, the protagonist of the show watches old tv shows as a child, and during the show, set in his adult life, clips from the old shows add color to his frequent romantic encounters. I believe the actress played his ex-wife on the show. A little help?
Response by poster: Wow. This was my first metafilter post ever. Response time: very impressive. It reminds me of that phone network Jupiter Jones had in those Three Investigators kids mystery books. What was that called again?

You laugh, but those books are worth collecting, apparently.

Most recently, playing the wife of Frasier's dad, whose wedding was one of the plot points in the series finale last week.

Response by poster: Double wow. Thanks for the help on the 3 Investigators. A clarificatory note: this girl looks strikingly LIKE Wendie Malick, but much younger. Definitely not her probably good, as Ms. Malick outdates me by 29 yrs. and 8 days.

Response by poster: Uh, probably good that it's definitely not her, that is.

I like Wendie Malick. Good comic timing, attractive... and I don't mind the fact that she was a Wilhelmina model back when I was still losing my two front teeth.
