European (and EuroLovin') MeFites: IRC (irc.turlyming.com:6667, channel #euro) chat tonight at 9:30 GMT about "Vewropa" new community Euroblog in the making. If you haven't seen it yet, the AskMe question that kicked it off is here. The Wiki that will get you up to date is here. Have a look around, and show up tonight to share your opinions.

Awe-some. I can't make tonight (unless it runs for a while) but things seem to be progressing nicely!

Apologies that I be there this evening I'd like to have been more involved than I have, prior commitments.

Looking good though.

Great, I'll be there!
Do we have an agenda or some points we need to discuss?

Peeps....can't make it tonight, I'm travelling for work and in a hotel with no wireless LAN...so I'll drink beer and watch football instead....however....I know your decision making is sound...and if you want me to do stuff....mail me!

I know your decision making is sound.

That sounds patronising...wasn't intended....I meant, that whatever decisions y'all make, I'll almost certainly agree with based on what I've seen happen so far...

sebas, I think we'll want to cover as much as possible of all the points on the Wiki (Guidelines, Categories, Layout, CMS, Languages, Moderation) and try to make some final decisions.

Shane - I know! I'm bad. I'll get back to it!

Ah. By the way, XiBe posted a link on the Wiki to page that gives the GMT time .

I'm offended at being left out...can i be honorary Eurotrash?

Course ya can, dahlink!

Watch the wiki for announcements...

hey!
If he can be honorary Eurotrash, can I? After all, I live in alabama and it doesn't get much trashier. I mean. nm

But really, if amber gets honorary....

It seems I may have pre-empted the decision, which after all is gonna be a group one. The situation has not really been decided, and every one needs to consider the issues. Sorry. What I want is not necessarily the same as what this emerging community wants.

I'd say you have to at least pretend to be European. Sorry ambie!

Looks fantastic, nice and clean....I see there is a categories filter there too....great.

Bleh. My IRC client went up the spout.

I'll just repeat m
y vote for one of Taz's Europa designs with Verdana & no underlined links.

i_cola, I'm using chatzilla in Mozilla, and it was so, so easy to set up. Let me know if you want to give it a whirl, and Ill meet you at #euro.

amberglow and interested parties, I'm campaigning strongly for "Euro-involved" non-European members to be included. Until Mr.taz and I ever get around to dealing with the paperwork, I'm not even strictly European myself - just a resident alien. (Go ahead, laugh all you want.)

Just wanted to join the chorus of praise for taz's designs, especially this one. My only suggestion would be to collapse the top banner a little bit so that you could see more posts at first glance.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but the European Weblog Review has a pretty solid blogroll of European bloggers, in case anyone wants to drum up some support/members from outside MeFi.

I don't think it's even an issue - everyone seems to agree upon this point.

I couldn't get into the IRC thing last night and it was too late for me to sort it out. But I agree taz's designs are heavenly!

Keep us posted?

!!!
Everyone here interested in the final design please go vote (omg!) on the final site image (not exactly a "logo" but... you know - the "image"); it will be a couple of days before I can start implementing the design, and we need to choose between the two favorites, #10 and #13 . Both have completely solid origin-of-the-name criteria behind them , each are equally solid in terms of meaning. I like one just a little better than the other, but I bet you can't guess which! If you are interested in being involved in this, please vote, and put my mind at ease.

Sorry! Here, of course.

I'm not going to vote, because I think all of taz's designs are fantastic. I like the idea of randomly putting a different piece of art in each refresh.
posted by salmacis at 12:03 PM on September 30, 2004

salmacis, that only happens with #10; with #13 the image will be static.
posted by taz at 12:09 PM on September 30, 2004

i'm with sal, so i guess #10. (they're both tres belle/muy bueno/macht gut/molto buono, tho) : >

I prefer number 13
posted by ZippityBuddha at 5:26 PM on September 30, 2004

The idea of changing artwork (#10) is fascinating - but there is something about the eye (#13) which is just sharper, catchier, if that makes sense in an image. Both designs are excellent.

I am IRC challenged, and also in the wrong time zone, but I hope all went well - I look forward to the site going live.
