Do old text ads live forever? June 8, 2005 12:44 PM Subscribe
I'm seeing a textad for www.electoral-vote.com, a site that hasn't been updated since 2004. (I think.) Do ads, once bought, keep appearing forever? And if so, is that a feature or a bug?

bit of both. He bought a ton of ads and ads run for quite a while due to me keeping the server resources down and caching one ad for a minute for non-members, so the viewing counts are down and the ads last months instead of weeks. posted by mathowie at 12:58 PM on June 8, 2005
Ha. I still remember how you took a month off of MetaFilter leading up to the election because you were so scared he'd win. You've proved yourself quite a capable gloater since those days. Surprised that we lefties didn't all quit MeFi when bush won? No such luck, Paris. posted by scarabic at 3:36 PM on June 8, 2005
I dunno. Loathe as I am to admit it, Bush looks pretty snappy in his picture. I'd hit it (not gay). posted by Ryvar at 5:00 PM on June 8, 2005

Did you ever hear Bush's nickname at Yale? Lips posted by amberglow at 6:17 PM on June 8, 2005
