Damn, this means that user #25,437 is coming up soon. If I've read my Nostradamus quatrains correctly, that means there's going to be a bunch of petty MeTa minutia followed by a longtime MeFite very publicly leaving the site for good. Anyway, seems like a milestone sort of event, in the tradition of assigning extra importance to round numbers, so I figured I'd take note.

fff, it's because every time a new user registers, a number gets allocated to them, but they don't actually get commenting rights until they've paid their 3.90 Euros (that's what I paid anyway, heh). Even before the $5 signups, the user number of the newest MeFite was higher than the user count of the front page. A few totally deleted accounts (including 'test users' Matt used in testing the MeFiWare) accounted for that. Now get off my lawn, damn kids.
