Why don't we have in-line video for non-members? I typically avoid sending posts with great videos in them to (like this) to non-members because they will just see a wall of text without being able to play videos in-line. Would it be possible to add the in-line video player for everyone who visits metafilter?

Some time on Tuesday, ask.metafilter.com mobile version stopped scrolling on my Motorola Droid I running Android 2.2.3. Still no worky.

Looking for an old Metafilter post about true story Dungeons & Dragons and other RPG experiences? It was a tumblr link but there were stories in the MeFi thread too? Thanks!

I just wanted to highlight 1) how cool it is that the schizophrenic programmer of Losethos has chosen to contribute to the
thread about his operating system, and 2) that in response (almost all) the members of this site treat him with an admirable level of respect and genuine curiosity.

I like the MeFi Podcast! The last one was posted June 12 so if I am not mistaken we are in the longest between-podcasts interval since they got started in 2007. That was a 20-podcast year. We've had four so far this year, good lengthy ones, to be sure. What has changed? Are people not so interested anymore, or are the mods just too busy?

Do unexplained YouTube links annoy you? I don't mean FPs with a pattern of clearly identified YT links, or someone making a topical and fairly obvious post like "I like this version better"; but just an inline
link with zero context.

There are a bunch of comments suggesting there was originally a misspelling in The Whelk's
Foul Bachelor Goons FPP, including one by restless_nomad saying he'd never seen a word butchered so horrifically by accident. Now I'm really curious what the original spelling was. Does anyone remember?

Not a call out of anyone specifically, and certainly "be the change you want to see" but the front page today is comprised entirely of one-liners, mostly SYTL. Maybe it's decompression from the August Best Post Contest, but typically MetaFilter is known for it's "essay-like" posts and it feels like reddit today.

This is a genuine query not a complaint - does anyone else read a lot of AskMeFi questions, think they could perhaps help, then when they look 'over the fold' get put off by the huge bulk of further details?

There must already be Ask questions about how to increase business/get more clients as a freelancer, but I'm not hitting the right search terms or something. Can anyone point me? Thanks!

Hi MeFites! This is the discussion thread for the
2012 MetaFilter Pronunciation Survey, available for 5 days to all logged-in site users. Even if you already took the 2010 survey, it'd be valuable to have you do it again. Additionally, this time around all survey participants will have the option to have a word frequency table of their MetaFilter posting history generated and emailed to them.
If you would like to take the 2012 survey, I would ask that you please do so BEFORE you read or participate in the discussion here (as well as before you view the previous MetaTalk thread about the 2010 survey). This is to help ensure that your responses to these survey questions are entirely your own decisions and are not influenced by the opinions of those participating in this thread. If you have already taken the 2012 survey or are not interested in taking the survey but would like to discuss it, please go ahead and do so here.

We should have a best comment contest. I don't know how it would be decided exactly, but presumably the mods have come up with some criteria for the best post contest, so perhaps they could be applied to comments.

I notice that a few posts have been deleted already today (and yesterday there were seven!), so I was wondering if the mods have any stories about days where they had to delete an extreme number of posts from the blue?

From time to time, people who are the topic of a thread register and participate in the conversation. I was looking for some kind of list in the Wiki and didn't find anything. So I searched through tags and found these:
newmember,
mefisown,
metafiltersown. Anywhere else?

Just wanted to respond to concerns here, rather than creating a derail in
this thread. Replying here because if the anon OP has seen the comment I am responding to, it might be more helpful than taking it private to Memail with the commenter.

So, as a newbie (on here; rather older in real life) and as (currently) an Englishman, is "Metafiltered" an acceptable verb? e.g. "Spotted this great little news story so I Metafiltered it", or, like, are people going to start getting all OED on me if I do that?

Facebook has finished its roll-out of an edit feature for comments on wall posts/comments. If you have a Facebook account, I'd ask you to take a look at it. I think it works and would like to discuss why it could work on MetaFilter.

At first I thought someone had hit "post" twice, but no, it was just that that Fight or Flight and Zoomorphic entered the Metafilter Singularity at

It's that time once again--the London Mefite contingent is going to do battle tonight with Reddit in an epic
pub quiz. It's a smaller crowd this time, with only nine of us confirmed, but it's still enough to do two teams.
Come by and cheer us on, or do so here. As usual, one of us will be posting updates at the halfway mark and afterward.

Isn’t coming into
this thread to say "Photorealism sucks" and
this one to say "I’m not into fashion, who cares what your jeans look like, quit being so shallow" pretty much the same as coming into a baseball post and saying you hate baseball?

Looking for a comment thread that I believe may have originated at Reddit and was linked here: stories from men talking about how they (often painfully) missed clues from women who were interested in them, and the agony and regret when they realized what was actually happening at a later date. Thanks!

There was a blog (tumblr, maybe?) posted a while back that had screenshots of cartoon frames that compensated for the lack of motion blur by multiplying the image onto itself. The only one I can recall was Spongebob with three or four faces. Anyone remember what it was?
