Parmanparman in Oregon! Oregon!! October 28, 2009 8:57 PM   Subscribe

I accepted a dream job and will be moving to Ashland, Oregon right after thanksgiving. Are there Southern Oregonians and Northern Californians interested in a meet-up?

I'm Northern Cal by birth but there no more. Congrats on the job, though - can you tell us more? Beautiful part of the country you'll be living in.

Thanks for the congrats. I am going back to work for my alma mater as their coordinator for annual giving. It is such a wonderful opportunity to be of service to a community I love. Hope we can make a meeting happen - at least I'll see you on Nov 7 in DC?

All the more reason for a visit. Will you be back home this winter? Let's meet up if you do.

I am an Ashlander! I am interested in a meet-up!

Never thought that would happen.

Congrats on the job! I grew up near Ashland and love it up there, but I'm not sure if I'll get up to S. Oregon this fall. My brother owns an auto shop in Ashland, so if you need a recommendation on that front let me know.

I am very new to Metafilter. But I just happened to be checking it out tonight, when I ran across your post. I live close to J'ville, about a 15-minute gorgeous country drive from Ashland. Jacksonville just got voted one of the top 10 small towns in the U.S. because of its unbeatable charm and emerging vineyard scene. So, I'm sayin' when you settle in, come on out to J'ville and we'll have a coffee, tea, or vino. Congrats

I live in San Francisco, but I'm driving up to Eugene for Thanksgiving. So if you guys settle on Sunday afternoon, I would love to stop driving for a few hours of meetup. If not, no problem, I'll just sleep in later. :D

Sorry parmanparman - won't be in DC in November. I'm living abroad now and in order to avoid paying taxes in the US I can only be there 31 days in a calendar year - I've only got 5 left and I'm saving them for when I get back after Christmas.

But yeah, like special-k said, let's meet up around January. I should be in Los Angeles for work around Jan 5-8, but back up in Sacramento for the weekend following that. I want to do another snow-day meetup, that idea was awesome.

I went on vacation with the hubby to Jacksonville this past summer, and got to tour the area, including Ashland (and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival) and the Applegate Valley (and its lovely wines, *hic!*).

It's a beautiful, wonderful area, the best of rural-redneck-meets-hippie-small-town. My husband described Ashland as "English teacher heaven".

So let me just say that I am rather envious of you.

Sounds good dude. Let's talk when it gets closer.
