Question of boundaries March 12, 2010 12:35 AM   Subscribe

The mobile load is pretty heavy. I have to go through five different loads to make a comment. We used to be able to post without reviewing first. What happened to primary responsibility?

That was one page load man. No forced preview.. are you talking about composing a new post? Is this something people actually do on their phone?!

I'm guessing there's just no custom style for that because it's sort of not something you'd expect anyone to do.

One page for me too.

It's "don't interfere with the internal development of planets", right?

Sucks on a blackberry. Maybe that's what he's talking about.
posted by Mid at 5:29 AM on March 12, 2010

But that was only one click on my blackberry. What sucks is that when you type in the comment box, the text scrolls to the right forever, which makes editing hard.

Hi from my iPod touch, with just one click, no forced preview.

"I have to go through five different loads to make a comment."

I think this is a you thing, not a them thing. You'll have to share more information if you want help figuring out what it is, though.

Parmanparman - are you using Opera Mini? I had lots of hard-to-replicate weirdness when I use Opera Mini to post.

parmanparman: "I have to go through five different loads to make a comment. We used to be able to post without reviewing first."

I think what parmanparman is asking for is a "comment" textarea on the home page. Type "This is a terrible post" and hit "Post Comment" and it'll get added to a random thread. See? One page load.

What happened to boundaries? This is so weird.

Try one of those extra large front-loaders that take a couple of pounds of quarters and is the size of a small car.

I would assume parmanparman is trying to post again but he's waiting for five different pages to load.

Why are you guys talking about smartphones and blackberries? This dude is obviously struggling over there with a rustic wheelbarrow and a fucking stick in the mud just to make a comment and all you can do is natter on about your first world smartphone problems. Sheesh.

Which blackberry and browser are you using? I don't have that problem on my Curve, running BB's browser.

It's the regular browser that came with my Bold. I think the version is 4.6.0. Fourcheesemac favorited my comments, which I take to mean that he/she has same problem (or maybe just that my comment was awesome).

This comment from a BlackBerry running Opera Mini because I still don't like the default browser.
posted by quin at 11:55 AM on March 12, 2010

Yeah, that seemed to work ok, although there was some weirdness with the display in the text box, but the preview worked perfectly and I only had to hit the button once.

Oh my god, carsonb, please stop—I do not want to have to explain to the guy fixing my roof why I am laughing out loud like a crazy lady, alone inside the house. It's bad enough that he knows I'm glued to a damn computer for some reason.

i have a curve with opera mini. I am on a PC now, but on my BB this morning i had to go through six loads to get to Metafilter. I realized the pages are actually reloading automatically (somehow!) and have posted a thread to an Opera Mini forum in hopes of solving the problem.
