Listening. Hearing trivial news. Where oh where is the Owie?

Sunny skies, though apparently, which is good.

Now they're talking in hushed and respectful tones about the 'latest casualty from West Virginia in the War in Afghanistan'.

I had no idea this sort of thing was happening on the radio in America. There's a war on? Other than a propaganda one? That people are talking about on a daily basis? It would seem that American media is on a completely other planet from where I live.

Freak me out.

Sorry. Carry on with the mathowie interview. I'm keen to hear our patron saint talk some hot hot community blog action too...

Matt should affect a nice British accent like the guy from theyrule.net (speaking as I type this).

Jim Lehrer has now referred to Matt as "Mat Haw-ee" and "Matt How-hee." C'mon, Jim, you can do it!

Lehrer just referred to the Mefi population as "some of [Matt's] Web scouts."

He's a Kiwi: Kiwi's are not pommy.

I just commented on the air: the cat attacked me at the same time, therefore with one hand I was holding four pounds of fighting fury, and with the other cupping the phone to block the hissing.

Matt Haughey is King of All Media. Lehrer didn't take my call, but oh well.

Time to get back to work.

Sorry for the pommy comment, just sayin' stuff. I know that...(and theyrule.net is superb)

I was stalling on one question, trying to think of something to say (I was surprised they didn't tell me who was going to be on the program or what we were going to talk about, I heard things just as you heard them, live), and then I flubbed and lost my train of thought. On the air.

I'm such a hack.

It doesn't matter what you say, Matt, it matters what you've done.

And you've done an amazing thing with this place here.

Wow. He uses "Solid" by Soulive as theme music. Good choice. And what StheWC said.

He kept pronouncing Haughey as 'Haw-Hee' (sort of the inverse of Hee Haw). I always thought it was 'Howie' (like Howie Mandel). Hmm. As a victim of constant name mispronunciations myself, this obsessed me the whole way through the show.

Good job though, Matt.

Damnation, wasting my time sitting on my ass in a jury room, when I could've called in to "On the Line".

I didn't even know he was going to be on -- the promos for that bit earlier (at the tail end of Morning Edition) mentioned theyrule.net, but not metafilter.

It is howie, but I never got a chance to correct them before we started. They called about a minute before I was on the air, said two words to me, then I was on. Oh well.

It was a very well done segment. Even impressed at the RealPlayer audio quality. I was surprised, however, that Miguel wasn't one of the callers. Shocked, really.
