Well, the NYC meetup thread has been closed, so I'm starting another one.

The only issue with Winnie's is it can get crowded (although if we get there early, we might be okay) and it requires a 2 drink minimum.

We're still looking at March 22?

What start time?

Yes, March 22nd is the date. I'm not sure about the time.

If 8:00 PM is too late, how about 7:00 PM?

Whoo hoo! One last MeFi NY meetup before I leave for Tokyo for one year :)

Wait a minute, you said the last meeting was your last one before moving. I'm seeing a pattern here, Gen.

My $.02 about karaoke: not really conducive to conversation. Laughter, yes, but not conversation.

Well if we don't wanna do Karaoke, that's fine too.
posted by riffola at 9:37 AM on March 6, 2003

I'm not a big fan of karaoke, (not being able to sing), but I think a two-drink minimum is entirely consistent with karaoke. (I'm gonna need 10+ drinks to get me to sing in public...and y'all will be lucky if I pass out before I get to that stage.)

I can most likely make it, but me wife and I don't drink...

Ow! Who threw that?

Well, if karaoke's not cool, we can always go to Club Cake...

[clears throat]

Love lifted us up where we belong!
Where the eagles fly!
On the mountain heights!
Whoa ohh ohh oh ohhhh!

Why does everything start sooo late?

Although whenever we've started early, only a few of us are there, and then everyone shows up.

But I still don't know why people wait until 7 or 8 to show up. I mean, who really needs to eat dinner?

Umm.. so where is this place? Are we doing Manhattan, or are people discussing outside boroughs again?

So, do we have a place yet? Is this definite? I just got babysitting and the night off work.
posted by adampsyche at 2:02 PM on March 8, 2003

Well since Karaoke is out, any non-Karaoke place is fine. I remember a few people at the last meet up mention having a place where people can sit down and eat. So we could do that, or we can just go to a place like last time.
