Pony request: I know this is slightly silly, but I would like validation for something that I find myself doing occasionally - can clicking on the check mark next to a question with a best answer in it jump me straight to the first best answer in the comments? Sometimes I read a question and want to just see what the person thought the best answer is. I did not see any requests for this in a search going back to 2008, so I figured I'd ask.

I know that I am a bit of a misanthrope,
this is not the first time I have been a whiner over AskMeFi, and that MeFi is not my private playground BUT is there anything that can be done to help/hinder people who ask again, and again, and again about their relationship on AskMeFi, chronically ignore what everyone says, and then are back a month later to ask about their relationship?

Some time back, I read a comment (I think on AskMefi) about how if you were jealous of someone else's success, it was because you were arrogant enough to think you deserved that success. In essence, be humble. I've tried to find that comment again with a combination of 'jealous' and 'arrogant' (and combinations thereof) but it doesn't seem to work; help is appreciated!

I have been checking
this thread every day since it was first posted/I engaged and we have not heard back from the OP about whether she is safe/well/etc. I fully understand she may never write back (and that it may be in her best interest from a safety/life priorities perspective).

Sometimes when I load Ask Metafilter the green color will show up washed out, but I can open it up in a new tab and it is now a different shade. Usually scrolling down the desaturated page or selecting text will change it back to a more saturated green. Any reasons for this? Safari OSX.

Quick question about protocol on the human relationships section of AskMeFi. If someone asks a question there which can potentially be answered by just a yes/no answer, is it okay to just answer it with a yes/no, or should one always add reasoning to your answer?

This is a genuine query not a complaint - does anyone else read a lot of AskMeFi questions, think they could perhaps help, then when they look 'over the fold' get put off by the huge bulk of further details?

A meta for recommendations? A lot of AskMeFi posts are about stating your favourite stuff and asking for recommendations of the same - movies, books, games, music, this one new thread is about podcasts.
So how about it? A new Meta where you list the stuff you like, and others give you recommendations based on that.

We've noticed a slight uptick in the number of anonymous questions submitted recently, and we've found that sometimes the questions don't provide the context we need to approve them. So with that in mind we added a small change to the
anonymous question form at Ask MetaFilter to help with that. We're now asking why the question should be anonymous.

I don't usually have time to read all of the questions on AskMeFi, so I rely on the Popular Favorites (24 hours) tab to screen the submitted questions for those found most interesting by other MeFites. The problem is that because of the way they are sorted I sometimes miss some.
Would it be possible to sort them chronologically by the time and date of submission, the most recent being at the top of the list? That way I could scroll down the list until I get to the question I remember from my last browsing session.
What do others think? Thanks!

My question is how do you manage meta and askmefi? I use RSS for both and given the "living" nature of the threads, I always feel like I'm missing something if I read a thread too soon so I usually whittle the queue down leaving the 100 most recent threads unread. But then I feel like I'm missing out on the more time-sensitive stuff.

Taxfilter? Mefitax? I know this isn't our domain, per se, but I think it is the type of thing we're great at. And there's plenty of askmefi history to warrant the discussion.
What is the proper place for tax questions in metafilter? Is there a proper place? Is there a better forum? Really better?
full disclosure: I almost posted this to askmefi, but: [more inside]

So I have an article that I want to post, but the article is essentially a question regarding how people read.
Abebooks had a blog post about it and the
Guardian picked up on this issue as well. Should I post this on MetaFilter or under AskMefi? No matter where I post it, people will offer up their own preferences for how they read a book. As I see it, this post would be more appropriate in the Green, but I'm not certain.
