It is Thanksgiving Day, and as is our wanton wont, we are watching the official 2022 Turkey Day marathon (via their YouTube stream) of Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes in the MST Club room all day long! It started at 7 AM and should be going for quite a while, they have a lot of episodes this year, and they've been "surgically enhanced," meaning they're uprezed and restored! Come join us for a while if that sounds fun!

Happy week Metafilter! For many Mefites in the US, this is Thanksgiving week so there might be travel, family with all its good and bad aspects, and/or a special meal. For some Mefites it's Thanksgiving today, which can mean travel and family etc (or not). For everyone else it's just midweek. So here's an open chit-chat thread where we can celebrate what we're thankful for, or take refuge and gripe about traffic and family, or alternatively, celebrate its not being a holiday and gripe about regular midweek nonholiday stuff. I really like the word "blustery", do you have a word you like?

Word is that Joel Hodgson is doing another Turkey Day stream of classic MST3K episodes on Thanksgiving this year, starting at noon Eastern time, both through YouTube and their new 24 hour Twitch stream! The stream already shows MST3K all the time, but watching it for Thanksgiving is like a tradition, a tradition that we in MST Club believe strongly, so we watch the whole marathon in our video room each year, as kind of a preliminary for the big Christmas Marathon. It's Thanksgiving in America, a day to give thanks, spend time with family, friends, & loved ones and share a warm meal. 2018 has not always been the most easy of years to live through, I thought it'd be nice to have a place to share thanks, to acknowledge that we made it another year on this planet, that we did it together. I'm thankful for my family, my friends, my partner, and all of you. I'm thankful that MetaFilter exists. Cheers.

What we've done the past couple of years is set up the MST Club video sharing room (at https://cytu.be/r/Metafilter_MST3KClub) and embed Shout Factory's official stream of the event there, so we can watch it with other MeFi members and our own chatroom instead of the rapidly-scrolling chat of Twitch/Youtube MSTies. We plan on doing that this year too, BUT NOTE, the official event is this Sunday, November 18th, not on Thanksgiving Day like years past! Thanktoberfest runs from Canadian Thanksgiving through American Thanksgiving, and we encourage you to focus on things you're thankful for. Thanktoberfest runs from Canadian Thanksgiving through American Thanksgiving, and we encourage you to focus on things you're thankful for -- making posts about awesome things you're grateful exist, thanking other mefites for their awesomeness, and just generally spreading good vibes and gratitude all around the site. Now that Halloween is over, I am ready to GET HYPE for the winter holidays, and with the SUPER-INTENSE SNOWSTORM we had on Friday that made it impossible to drive, but only for an hour, I think the universe is telling me it's time to talk turkey.
