Help me find this old AskMetafilter thread

There was an AskMetafilter thread sometime ago from a company wanting to fire their crazy IT guy, but they were afraid he installed back doors and other nefarious things and didn't know how to proceed. There was some good advice in the thread, but I can't seem to find it. [more inside]

Sidebar recommendation

I would like to submit this thread on ADD/ADHD for sidebarring. It contains some of the most honest, vulnerable, relatable descriptions of the effects on one's daily life that I have ever heard. Since ADD comes up a lot in AskMe, I think it would be valuable to highlight it.

Looking for an ask.mefi comment about our corporate government

Looking for a comment on an ask.mefi question that was along the lines of "the government is run by corporations and there's nothing we can do about it and that's all it ever will be, ever," but in a much more eloquent way. I think it was sometime in the past 12 months. I know that's not a lot to go on, but anyone have a clue where I might find it?

Now we are six

Ask MetaFilter is six years old today-ish. The subsite that began without its own URL has grown into its own fully tagged, categorized (mostly) searchable archive of our little hive's collected wisdom. Just last month over 1900 users wrote questions and 5300 users gave answers. [more inside]

Cleaning up a suicide scene, no big deal?

The suicide scene wasn't cleaned up and the new flooring crew just took it all in stride and cleaned it up, really? Not so much a "Is this true" question, though there is a bit of that, but more curiosity if anyone has been a part of a flooring or cleaning crew and had to deal with situations like those in the question. Five years of Ask.MeFi book suggestions from Human Relations and Work & Money

Ask.Metafilter is over 5 years old now, with volumes of suggestions and helpful ideas. philosophistry sorted through the years of posts categorized as Human Relations and Work & Money, and created ranked listings of the books people recommended the most often: Human Relations, Work & Money. Note that each little thumbs-up icon is a link back to the post which referred to the book in question. Posted originally in Mefi by filthy light thief, but deleted. [more inside]

Translate ReadMe int CheckMeOutFromLibrary

I seem to remember that in the wake of this question someone mentioned (on MeTa, I think) putting all the books that appealed to them into an Amazon wishlist. They were then able to use some sort of tool that exported it into a format useful for taking it to their public library. Does anyone remember this posting? I tried to search for it but my googleFu blah blah blah...

"How to get sent to the sandbox" on AskMeFi

I distinctly remember reading a thread in AskMe a few weeks (?) ago, where someone was asking, in a nutshell, 'how do I get sent to Iraq as a defense contractor?' It might not have been that, exactly, but it related to jobs as a defense contractor, or maybe overseas jobs in general, or maybe just 'dangerous jobs.' I think it specifically mentioned the idea of defense contracting (Blackwater, etc.), and the question related to how one gets their foot in the door. I can't find this, using any combination of searches or tags, looking under all the logical terms (jobs, employment, iraq, all combinations thereof). Does anyone else remember or have a link to this thread? Or did I just totally hallucinate it?

Optimizing AskMe

When is the best time of day to ask a question on AskMefi and get maximum response / eyeballs? Seems like there's a hundred questions per day lately. In my particular upcoming case it will be about gadgets, if that affects the answer. Has anyone done an analysis of posting rates over the 24 hour day, and which time periods get the most responses?

Is it acceptable to offer an incentive for a successful answer in AskMe?

Is it considered in bad taste or a breach of policy to offer a prize or reward to whomever successfully solves a tech problem I'm tempted to post in askme? I've tried various customer support avenues and have had no luck so far.

If it is acceptable, what sort of incentive would be appropriate? Money strikes even me in poor taste. Any ideas, or should I just scrap the reward avenue?

How many questions per AskMe are allowed?

25 answers, 3 users marked as favorite. Yet I get "please don't abuse ask me by asking 300 questions disguised as one" in my email. I didn't actually ask 300 questions, I asked for answers for the debunkable ones. The thread was doing quite well, and was quite informative before it was deleted.

AskMe posting descriptions could be clearer

When posting to AskMe there is some confusion on the descriptions of the text boxes. I copied the italicized text from the "Preview Your Question" AskMe posting page.

Below the "Your question" box the text reads:
This will be the "more inside" area where you explain additional details about the question if necessary. If you use this space, don't write "more inside" to the question area, it will automatically be added for you.

Then below the "Extended explanation" box is something similar:
(optional) This will be the "more inside" area where you explain the question fully if necessary and remember there is no need to write "more inside" .....

I found this a little confusing and repetitive. I know that the top box is what would be a FPP, but maybe this could be phrased better? Is the text below the top box supposed to introduce/explain the second box? Of course, I posted a question so now I can't get back to the original "Post a new question" page to see if that is how this is written there.
