Meeting my nephew for only the second time in his very young life, I will be in my hometown of Berkeley, California from Friday, July 27. Is there any interest in a Berkeley/Bay Area Meet-up? First round is on me! I suggest Triple Rock Cafe on Shattuck and Hearst on Saturday evening, but other thoughts duly welcomed.

On Sunday, 10/16, CTP and I will be holding our first monthly free bike repair clinic in Berkeley. We're offering free repair, free advice/teaching on anything relating to making your bike work. All Bay Area MeFites are invited to come get a free tune-up, help with repairs, or just hang out. [details inside]

Meetup in Berkeley! Tuesday! 9/20! 7PM! Jupiter!
Now that scarabic has cut through our dithering and proposed a definitive date and time, I thought I'd repost that definitiveness, as the dithering is about to fall off the front page.

While Googling around, I found this project, done by someone at Berkeley, using a Metafilter thread to point out various types of 'audience'. It seems to have been done to fulfill one of the assignments in this course, whose professor calls Metafilter a 'news-oriented weblog' in the syllabus (scroll down near the end of the page). Are you a "Sharer of News"? An "Idea Generator"? A "Quoter"? Or could you be a "Contrarian", or perhaps a "Humorist/Summarist"?
