Anybody doing Hub On Wheels in Boston this weekend? Want to ride together for a while? At the meetup in July I talked to some Bostonian mefites who liked bike riding. There is a big ride this weekend, called Hub On Wheels, where they shut down Storrow Drive for the day. If you read this and want to bike together for a portion of the ride, let's figure out a place to meet near city hall.

Impromptu meetup in Boston tomorrow (Friday) night to welcome an old friend... Ardiril from MetaChat is visiting Boston for the weekend, and he needs to be welcomed in style! Alas, he can't make the Saturday meetup in Cambridge, so we're meeting at the Legal Seafood in the Copley mall in Boston, at 7:30 or earlier on Friday. (That is, I can't make it until 7:30, but maybe others can.) They serve other things besides seafood if that's an issue, and they make a mean bloody mary. Ardiril says ;-P

Boston area MST-up, Feb. 21. Mystery Science Theater 3000 splinter faction Cinematic Titanic will be doing live shows at the Somerville Theater Feb. 20 and 21. (Seats are still available, albeit up in the less spacious balcony.) I'm going to both shows (why yes, I am obsessed, thank you for noticing), but I'd like to propose a preshow meetup for Saturday the 21st in the Davis Square area. The show starts at 8:00, so I was thinking maybe meeting at 5:30 or 6:00, with those not attending the show free to hang out longer if they want. Suggestions on venues welcome. I was going to suggest The Burren (private to Discourse Marker: guess whose idea that was), but it looks like they may already have a band going by then, and I'd like to be able to hear everybody.

Boston Blues Jam Meetup? As discussed at the last Boston meetup I swear I'll have those photos on flickr any day now..., let's get together at Johnny D's for some blues jammin', dancin', and general carousin'. The Place: Johnny D's, Davis Square, Somerville. The Time: a Sunday TBD. Jam starts at 4:30 with a set by the house band. What to Bring: $3 to get in. Instruments if you want to jam (amps and drum kit are available). Dance shoes if you're serious about that kind of thing. Pants. As far as I can tell, they only serve the bar menu during the jam - salads and burgers, mostly. So, come out, enjoy some music, and have some fun!

Boston, it's been too long. Is anyone down for one last 2008 meetup? Was thinking it might be fun to come in from the cold and hang out one last time - after a year with some excellent Boston meetups - before Christmas blows us to all four corners. When: tentatively the evening of December 17th, also known as next Wednesday. But subject to change based upon everybody's availability. Where: Cambridge, presumably - I have no particular venue in mind.

David Sedaris will be in Boston this Sunday. Is anyone else planning on going/ interested in meeting up afterwards? David Sedaris starts at 7 and I'm not sure when he'll be done. Also, I don't know what restaurants or bars are near Symphony Hall and might be good venues for a meetup. I do know that Monday is a holiday so there's no need to worry about getting up the next morning. Anyway, I realize this is (relatively) short notice so if you have a suggestion for a better excuse for a meetup in the near future then suggest away.

Last minute, late notice, totally overkill Boston meetup: In my continuing practice of showing up in a city immediately AFTER a meetup has been successfully held with beer'n'everything, I will be in Boston for the next few days, from Friday May 30 til mid-day Wednesday June 4. Anyone game for a couple beers sometime in there? It looks like I have plans the night of Saturday the 31st and Sunday June 1, but every other night (so far as I can tell) is free, as are my weekend mid-days. I'll be staying with friends near JP and will have T access but no car. I'd love a meetup for those so inclined. I'm doing this on Saturday night as well, with a few non-Mefite friends but I'm pretty sure if people wanted to show up and grab drinks afterwards that'd be cool too.

A few ideas: Eat at Middle East and grab some good seats, or Miracle of Science just down the road, or Cambridge Brewing Company in Kendall Square.

Boston meetup! Myself and wimpdork happen (independently!) to be visiting the area at the same time, so how about a meetup on Friday 5th October? The ever-helpful Eideteker has suggested doing something on Moody Street in Waltham (maybe the Watch City Brewery), or going to the Super 88 in Allston for Asian food followed by pool at Big City. Apparently these have gone down well in previous gatherings! And either of those sound good to this out-of-towner. What do you think?

Would anyone care to join me in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk? If yes, I'll organize a Metafilter team. There are four routes to choose from: 3, 5, 13.1 and 26.2 miles. Participation requires either a $200 donation or fundraising of an equal amount. Any local Runner+ and We Endure folks interested?

Boston meetup: Friday, September 7. 8p-ish? I'll be in town for a business meeting and I'd love to hang out with some Mefites while I'm there. Odds are good I'll be staying in Waltham, so maybe something on Moody Street? The last time I did this we did Super88 in Allston for dinner then Big City for drinks, and that was pretty fun. I'm taking suggestions. I'm T-dependent so that's a (minor) limiting factor. Let us party, my homeboys. And homegirls. And home-any-other-description-you-care-to-append-to-yourselves. Let us party.

BOSTON: Shakespeare in the Park Jul. 24

Ok, lets try this again.. Who's up for an opening night (that's tuesday, as in 49 hours from now) Shakespeare in the Park mefi meetup? Its at 8pm in the Boston Commons. I'll be getting coffee after, if I can find anywhere that's open past dark (this f-in city doesn't know how to drink coffee, I swear). The play is Midsummer Night's Dream. I hear its good ;) I could be up for another night, but I have guests coming in & I'm not quite ready to expose them to MeFi yet, so Tuesday's my preference.

Is it time for a Boston-itself-Boston meetup soon? I flew in thismorning, got my apt settled & now don't have work until the 26th. I'm right by Symphony, & can get anywhere the T goes, but I have neither bike nor car so I can't make much past that. I'm also (sadly, believe me) under 21, so I fear a pub crawl (as much as I'd love it) is out of the question. Also, would anyone living here be up for not-too-serious-slightly-more-than-but-basically-touch rugby on a semiregular basis?
