I find the "7 minutes ago" style of dating found on the "My Activity" to be far easier to parse than the normal way it is listed in threads. Any chance of a profile switch to enable that site-wide with the detail time available on a hover or something?

I've got my timezone set to UTC but Meta thinks it's 0.25 on the 14th when it's actually 23.25 on the 13th. Is this a 2k7 date hack that's fecked the site up for all non-Americans, or has the time gone wrong for everyone?

What happened pre January 28, 2000 that caused all earlier members than 278 to have joined 'sometime in 1999' v 279 (both absolutely useless, by the way) - the MetaTalk archives started March 3, 2000 so there is no obvious record of what happened.

In my experience, the exact phrase search for AskMe usually times out when searching through "answers only" or "questions and answers." I assume this is simply due to the size of the data. I'd hate to see this functionality disappear, as Google is pretty useless for AskMe. If a dedicated MetaFilter Search Cluster is not an option, perhaps we could have a way to specify date ranges?

When viewing MeFi in "my comments" or "most comments" mode, selecting "date" from the pull-down menu does nothing. I have to go to "recent comments," then select "date" when in that mode to get it to work. Using IE 6.0.26 on XP, if relevant.

Here's a minor quibble: when you sort the front page by "recent comments" the drop-down menu goes to "recent comments" accordingly and you can then select "date" and the page will reset.

However, if you choose "most comments" or "my comments" the menu goes automatically to "date" so you can't reset the page to date-ordered posts in one click. You have to, for instance, select "recent comments" and then select "date".

This is probably very taxing on the server. Is there any cleverer way round it?

How about including the year along with the date info on posts? This post got two new hits today, but we wouldn't know that if Ufez hadn't used the words "three years later".

Minor bug in "My Comments" sorting which predates the new server. When you pick "My Comments" the drop down on the newly sorted page defaults to "date", therefore you can't go back to sort by date from sort by my comments.

I know this had been requested here before, but if it is not too much trouble, can we have a year stamp added to the time stamp for each post?

Case in point, MiguelCardoso's this post was posted on the same date, but two years after the original thread started.

Here's a little suggestion... On threads older than 6 months, list the year beside the month and day on every comment. Why? Because I think it'd be useful on the rare posts where comments span a year or more like this or this.

This is, I hope, easy: years in date fields? MeFi has been around long enough so that when I look at a link to a thread that says "March 4" it could be 2000 or 2001. And, of course, it's only going to get worse.

When I check the Metafilter archives, I see every day of the month except for the last day. In other words, no September 30, no July 31. Has anybody else noticed this?
