a del.icio.us-like portion of the site?

Why doesn't metafilter add a del.ico.us-like portion of the site which shows interrelated links between sites that have been linked and tagged by users on the various metafilter domains, including users own homepages, projects, etc.

In this askMe post, which is now gone from the front page, rio (and several other people) wondered if there was a way to post to del.icio.us from FireFox without a pop-under window. After some research, I found this extension which does the trick (tested on my winXP machine). After installing it, you can post to del.icio.us in a pop-UP window (even with the blocker turned on) by pressing ctrl+shift+s.

Is there anyway MeFi can hope to keep up?

"the point of MetaFilter is to find the best and most interesting of the web" - with the growing popularity of such services as del.icio.us (and the super-useful aggregated popular view), and the rise in popularity of the 'link blog' (waxy, anil and kottke for example) is there anyway MeFi can hope to keep up or is the gradual evolution into current-events lead discussion inevitable?
