We recently heard from a documentary producer, Celia Aniskovich, who is working on a project related to the Kaycee Nicole hoax that played out during the earliest couple years of MetaFilter's existence. She's spoken with a few key folks already, including mathowie, but is interested to hear from anyone else in the MeFi community who has specific memories of or records from that whole saga. Pretty sure I originally found this through Metafilter. It was a short documentary on Youtube about 3 girls (high school students?) in the middle east documenting the harassment and threats they received for doing things like going out in public without a head scarf or driving a car. It was mostly just footage the girls filmed themselves.

Folo-up: In 2005 I posted the trailer for a documentary about the legendary SoCal band The Beat Farmers. Due to licensing issues *cough* Letterman clip *cough* the DVD has never been released, despite pleading from fans...until now. Director Jamie Dawson just put the whole thing on YouTube in 9 parts (about 8 mins. each) plus coda. YT Playlist here.

Who is suing mathowie? In the trailer for the documentary Blogumentary, Matt mentions that he is being threatened with lawsuits over "things people say on MetaFilter." Do we all need to chip in for a Mathowie Legal Defense Fund?
