Would it be useful to have an official method for coordinating WIP FPPs with other users?

Is there a government shutdown thread I'm missing somewhere? I've looked in AskMe and haven't noted anything on the blue. Is it being considered newsfilter?

I like reddit, and I have an account it, but do single link reddit FPP belong on the blue?

My FPP this morning supported legitimate outrage against a clearly terrible list of movies. This deletion is totally unwarranted and should be reversed.

Has the average daily count of front page posts increased over the last five years? When I joined back in 2006, I seem to remember the average being something like 23-25 posts a day. Now it seems to be about 33-36 posts a day. Do the numbers back me up? Or am I imagining things?

This FPP about women's reproductive rights and the definition of rape was rapidly taken over by a discussion of how old white men who don't fit the stereotype of old white men get their feelings hurt when "old white men" is used as a pejorative.
For those of you who want to continue that conversation, for those of you who want to discuss your frustration over the hijack, please--for the love of god--take it here instead.

Does this strike anyone else as odd?
This FPP contains two links to a t-shirt store (where the shirts are quite literally blue,) and a third link to an site with an ad/link to the same store.

In regards to improving FPPs on metafilter, can we give contemplation to creating the ability to collaborate on a post?

Follow up to
this post:
America's first legal male prostitute has left a rural Nevada brothel after a two-month stint that generated plenty of attention but fewer than 10 paying customers.

I posted a FPP that was rightfully deleted, however out of it was coming some interesting details about the topic and I'd like to learn more. Can I rephrase it as an ask mefi or is that bad form?

Would it be possible for posts that have the NSFW tag to be marked as such automatically on the front page?

Where do you people find the things you post to the "blue", and how do you consistently find them before the rest of us? Specifically to those of you who make art or photography posts here on Metafilter, where do you first learn of the things you link here? Reddit? Stumbleupon? Digg? Certain blogs? Where is the bleeding edge of the internet?

Idea: the Metafilter link-checker. Take the part of the 'new post' process that double-checks against prior posts, add the part of Mefi that conjures up the related posts, put a link to the feature up on the two lines of links near the logo.

Sadly not from the Onion, but actually from the Sunday Express, whose story appears to be an extreme misrepresentation of the truth, and various blogs who’ve taken that untruth further via internet Chinese whispers. Can we ditch this from the blue or at least add a note to the effect that it is in fact bollocks?
