MeFi and data leaks?

So after sleeping on it, as far as making this post goes, i'm still really uncomfortable with this as an FPP. Many good points were brought up in thread about how it's basically the fappening with no nudes, rotten fruit from a poison tree, and how the data leak includes a whole bunch of random non-celebrity rank and file workers at sony who are now hosed. Malicious AskMe

This question seems to be asking us to come up with the most malicious gossip we can think up about somebody the OP doesn't really know very well. I don't think this is something we should be aiding and abetting. [more inside]

What's the scoop on Andrew Sullivan and the Times?

"The New York Times Magazine contributing writer Andrew Sullivan has been banned from the mag indefinitely."
This from Bulldog Reporter's Lifestyle Media Relations Reporter, a newsletter that keeps tabs on media personnel shifts for PR pros. Unfortunately, that's all they said. Anybody got the goods?

Gossip filter?

Metaquette: What do you do if you know a piece of wonderfully juicy news (and substantiated with the appropriate sources), but the news is yet to break world-wide (say, two/three days away) and there is no link? Can you make a FPP? Should you be linking news at all? Huh? HUH?
