Or it could have been a comment, about writing or planning a book. It went something like this. (I think it was askme, but I'm not sure).
1. Event
2. Climax
3. Ending
And then
1a. Lead up to event.
1b. actual event.
1c. results of event.
2a. Lead up to climax
2b. Almost climax
2c. Climax!
Showing a hierarchical method of laying out a story, so that the paragraphs practically write themselves.
Thank you.

The Single Best Method I've Found for...
Given the perennial popularity and utility of "What's your favorite way to X" AskMe questions, and
recipe questions, and frankly, the to-me fascinating quality of
stuff like this, why not have a MeFi section devoted to lifehacks, recipes, and other time/money/environment/effort-saving shortcuts?
The
"Eat Me" Wiki, for example, is a nice compendium... but it looks like someone put some effort and time into it. Why not just have a section in which MeFi users can post lifehacks at random, so that users can just find these things via tags? Applying the voting system used for Projects might add to such a section's usefulness.

My
AskMe from this morning was answered beautifully, with depth and consideration. As it is right now, at 20:07 EST, it is a beautiful little anthology on How to Read. I would shamelessly nominate it for the sidebar.

Is there a way to link to a comment only? For a blog, for instance. A bonus for certain comments who have over 100 favorites maybe.

Error: your link is improperly coded, please check it, and try previewing again.
I was trying to make a new post with a link to
this page, but MeFi won't let me :( Are https links verboten in the blue?

Please explain the "Contacts" section of the profile.
Where, and under what circumstances should/would I link to another MeFite? Is this something people do in posts, or elsewhere?
Viewing the Contact Info of a Profile with Contacts seems to indicate something external to MeFi -- I see a column of links to profiles, and a column of external URLs, but nothing coupling them (although some of the identities of the latter are obvious).
And what's an example of a Contribution from a Contact?

I am trying to post within a thread, with a link to an earlier comment within the same thread. I'm not sure how to do it. I can link to the thread but it then starts at the top of the thread, not at the part of the thread I want.

I know there is a metafilter IRC channel but I am clueless about how to setup and use IRC. Can someone explain it to an IRC newbie?

Matt, have you ever considered writing an About page for MetaTalk? I remember distinctly the first time I visited a MeTa thread from a MeFi thread; I didn't know what was going on. What was this MeFi-looking thing? Why was it a seperate site? Etc. The blurb at the top of the home page didn't really help much. I don't know that there's a whole lot to be said about the site, but a little more explanation would have been nice. Maybe just an elaboration of why it isn't MeFi, because it really took me a while to understand the distinction. Maybe an About page would be unnecessary, but it seems like there's an absence of information on the subject. Plus, "About MetaTalk" would do a nice job of filling up that other void, the one up there under "MetaFilter Home."
