Where do I find the things I'm not allowed to straight ask for?

Is it really appropriate to ask "where to find people" to work for you on ask.mefi? Is this not exactly like asking "where can i find resources on making meth" in that it's not asking how to do something illegal, but for help in doing just that? Also, is this not what jobs is for?

I have no qualms with general networking questions, but questions like this really seem out of place to me.

A quick quandry about jobs

I'm looking for someone to partner with on a project, and I would like to post it to jobs. Is it kosher to post something to jobs that is not immediately compensated, but would be paid if success was achieved?

A Page for Job Seekers, Please

Pony request: can we have a place in the Jobs section for "Job Wanted" posts, please? I asked a mod if it was OK to put a job-seeking post on the Jobs page and they said no, so can we have a dedicated section for job hunting? I'm sure I'm not the only MeFite who's been laid off recently, and this seems like a great place for networking. Off the top of my head I can't think of any local MeFites who work in my industry, but you must be out there somewhere!

We've got a network - let's use it!

More jobs, please! This is a request to everyone to surround the Jobs page with white light. Please post more jobs and more kinds of jobs. It would be nice to see the utility of this area grow. My ulterior motive: I love jobs, and I'm often halfway in the job market, but I'm not a web designer or database administrator. It seems like at least 80% of the jobs that get posted here aim at that market. And yet the MetaFilter userbase is not made up exclusively of tech workers. Where are all the library jobs? Education jobs? Social service jobs? Small-business jobs? Media jobs? Postings for these are few and far between.

This is a great pool of people to fish in - many willing to relocate, experienced, and skilled. I try to pass on interesting jobs in my field, but I'll admit I'm nowhere near consistent about it and only tend to do it if it's already cut-and-pasteable. It would be great if there were more kinds of jobs posted here more often from more sectors. Even if that means everyone who has never posted a job posts one that becomes available in their workplace or field this year, that would increase the offerings. That's all - thanks.

MeFiJobs map kills Safari

Just an FYI...Due to changes made over at GoogleMaps, the map on MeFiJobs now crashes older versions of Safari. Google changed something with Maps about two weeks ago, making it violently incompatible with Safari 1.3.2. Not sure about early Tiger versions.

That's all.

Pony/suggestion - beef the Jobs subsection up with more job-related resources. I have a serious interview this week, and my immediate reaction was to start scouring AskMe for past questions about job interviews to see if I could glean any good tips. So far I've found a wealth of knowledge that has been very helpful, and more importantly, original. The quality of the answers and suggestions for interviewing are way better than the usual crappy "5 things to eat for breakfast on interview day!" posts on sites like Monster.

I think it would be awesome if somehow this AskMe content (and maybe some job-related posts from the blue) could be incorporated into the Jobs subsection as a way to make it more of a job-seekers' resource, beyond the job posts themselves (none of which I would qualify for or, frankly, even understand). It's my understanding that with the Travel section, questions can be cross-posted from AskMe to the subsection. Any way to incorporate such a capability into Jobs?

Should I post to Ask or Jobs? Long story, short explanation: I'm looking for someone who can help me understand how my small business can implement a database-driven website, and I'd potentially like to hire that same person to do a relatively small, one-time piece of work based on what I learn.

Closing Dates for Jobs

In the Jobs section: it would be nice if closing dates for jobs was a field to be filled in and displayed within the post. Barring that, this is a request for job posters to not post something if the closing date is the very next day, as was the first posting in this post (imo, even a weeks notice is difficult, but that's more debatable).
