Making-of video posted for "I Gotta Feeling" lipdub

Remember the I Gotta Feeling lipdub done by students at the Université du Québec à Montréal? They've posted a making-of video. You get to see the blocking and other prep, much of the first take, and also a third-party view following the film crew during the final shoot -- and then the crowd of participants as they funnel into the studio to meet the camera for the final shot. You get a good look at the (consumer grade?) steadicam used. Almost as much fun as the original.

Are any of you crazy people coming to Montreal for Worldcon? Meetup? At con for events, or off con for food/drinks (non-con-goers welcome, of course!)... whichever. Timing might be a pain to work out, but it should be worth a shot.

Magnificent May Montréal MeFi Meetup? I am going to be in Montréal for a couple of weeks, in a week; and as I am told there has not been a Montréal meetup for a while, and the weather is getting warmer (and I'm going to be around), now seems like a fortuitous time to have one. Since this will be my first time in Montréal, I shall defer location based decision making to locals <: Anywho, I will be around from roughly May 10 through May 22. Being that I am a lady of leisure, whenever is fine with me; but, I suspect, the weekend in the middle makes sense; so I suggest vaguely in the direction of the 17th.

We're gonna adventure like it's 1983!

Red Box Basic D&D meetup: Sunday, May 4 in Montreal? Geek Montreal is planning a GeekOut! on May 4, and among the various things to do, I plan to run a Red Box 1983-vintage Basic Dungeons & Dragons session for three or so hours in the mid-afternoon. More details about the event (time, location, details) here. I'm not a usual GeekOut! participant (I live in Sherbrooke, Quebec, which is a bit of a ways away) but I'm coming in special for the Red Box session and for some other stuff. I know there are a lot of old-school RPG fans here, and thought maybe some other MeFi folks would be interested. No official sign-up sheet or anything, just show up and get involved!

Montreal rendezvous? I read some old Montreal meetup threads and I felt kinda sad. There were at least two threads where no one jumped on the suggestion. And I know this isn't really the most, uh, festive time of year, but maybe that's the best reason why we should meet -- to stave off the S.A.D. We've all seen other cities' meetup pictures. I just know we can beat them with our internationally-renowned Montreal good looks. C'mon, let's do this thing. I'll throw out a few suggestions: Café Romolo, 272 Bernard O Casa del Popolo, 4873 St-Laurent Le Depanneur Café, 206 Bernard O (admittedly I've only ever walked past this place but it looks adorable)
