Gasp! Commas! Suddenly, there are commas where there none before -- in our profiles! Numbers four digits and above that not, long, ago appeared as (for example) "1165 comments" now read as "1,165 comments." I, for one, am appalled by this arbitrary and unexpected change! Was someone having a hard time parsing these numbers sans commas? I demand an explanation

Just a casual observation, but it looks like AskMe's post count will reach parity with MeFi's somewhere in the next 24-48 hours. By the end of the week there will be more threads created on the green than created in the blue.

Here's a little bookmarklet that tells you the average user age contibuting to the thread.

So I keep noticing thousands of new usernames in comment threads (which is awesome), and I got to wondering about how user age/contribution patterns were evolving on a threadwise level with the new users settling in. Being a non-statistician, I didn't care enough to perform a serious study, so I just threw together a little bookmarklet that tells you the average user age contributing to the page. It's totally worthless, but a bit of fun.

I don't know about you, but I'm curious. The membercount has been hovering at 14000 for the last week (?) or so, and just this evening went to 14001. Strange that the profile for user 14001 says "member since: March 15, 2002." Is there an interesting story here, or do I just need another hobby?
