Moving the "Older" and "Newer" navigation bar to the top?

Possible pony: Moving the "Older" and "Newer" navigation bar to the top? If you want to navigate from thread to thread anywhere on MetaFilter (except, I think, on IRL), there's a handy navigation bar that lets you instantly move to an adjacent thread (either the next newest or next oldest) with a single click. I personally like being able to do this because sometimes I like running through FPPs or AskMes one at a time while seeing all the "more inside" content for each one—and without having to flip back and forth between multiple tabs, or having to hit the back and forward buttons in my browser.

However, the "Older/Newer" bar is all the way at the bottom of every thread. That means that in order to use it, you have to scroll past all the comments. Sure, this can be accomplished with a quick keyboard command, but I thought this nav bar might be more useful and easier to use if it appeared at the top (perhaps above the thread title) rather than at the very bottom.

That may be undesirable from a page design point of view, and there might also be other unintended consequences I haven't considered. But just tossing this out there as a possibility. (I note that this request has been made a few times, though it's not clear if there's ever been a definite answer. The most recent request appears to be from four years ago. At the time, mathowie said he'd "consider" it, but I don't know if a final decision was ever made.)

What's so funny about . . .

Alright, after having my question deleted from AskMeFi, I'll try in MetaTalk:
While reading and posting in this thread I noticed a lot of people thinking that it's particularly creepy for an older man to hit on a much younger woman. It got me thinking about men who are older and in relationships with younger women and what the general opinion of women is regarding this. So my question, ladies of MeFi; do you generally find it creepy or distasteful when older men date younger women? And if so, why? I swear to (whatever you find sacred) I'm not trolling here. I just wondered what the views and opinions are of your average woman regarding this--in the words of one poster: only-common-in-Hollywood-practice.

Can we revive older Askme posts?

What is the policy on reviving or revisiting (with changes) older Askme threads that lack a clear resolution? There is an askme thread from last September about what trades might come in useful in a full blown depression (with humorous and scary derails into Mad Max/zombie apocalypse scenarios). I would like to revisit that question in light of economic developments since September and ask a little more specifically about my situation.

I've checked the FAQ and the wiki and can't find anything specific about this situation where one deliberately wants to make something similar to a "double."

I've been lurking since 2003 when William Gibson name checked the blue, and I've posting for two years, but I'm still unclear about the etiquette of revisiting older Askmes. Would any of the more experienced members care to offer any suggestions? I'm a big fan of good signal to noise and essentially want to know if mefites would consider this noise.

Older and Newer links

Can the “
« Older
” and “
Newer »
” links at the bottom of post pages use the post titles of the adjacent posts rather than the first few words truncated with an ellipsis?

AskMe link behaviour

I noticed that the AskMe "older" and "newer" thread links at the bottom of the page don't actually point to the thread's immediate neighbour, but end up skipping one or two posts in either direction.

meta points to askme

The older and newer links in the bottom of MeTa threads are pointing to AskMeFi threads rather than MeTa ones. I think the plumbing's exposed.

<smallest> not that I'm complaining. I love our pony</smallest>
