What it says on the tin

I don't like the "does what it says on the tin" phrase, such as employed by this recent post. Mostly, I just feel like it's overused. There have, however, been posts where I didn't understand what they were about and the description that it "does what it says on the tin" did not help. I think we can come up with better descriptions. For example, in this post, maybe a pull-quote of a helpful tip or something. [more inside]
