This is a poor post that links to at least one highly biased source and is generally framed in an exceptionally one-sided manner. While current events may be significant enough to warrant an exception to the (unofficial?) I/P moratorium, this post did not merit it.

Hey, there's a new post on Palestine. In the interest of having one of these posts that doesn't get deleted, I thought it might be a nice thing to start with agreeing on extra ground rules for discussion of this historically MeFi-contentious issue. But rather than derail the thread with discussion of discussion ground rules, maybe we should do that here? That's what this post is for. [more inside]

Oi! I'm a sucker for middle-east threads (and regrettably get irrationally wound up in them) (especially Israel/palestine ones), but the sheer number of similar front page posts in recent days has been exhausting and exhaustive. The topic is covered on every major news site.

What happened to "posting something interesting I've found on the web"?

People say that I/P Filter turns them off, but this link got 78 comments in two hours in the middle of a "slow, yet golden period". As usual, it quickly degenerated into a brawl. Has a whole topic ever been banned from MetaFilter?
