I realize this topic has nothing to do with Metafilter but, does anyone have any idea what has happened over at plastic.com? The site went dead on Tuesday night and I have been unable to get any information? Apologize about this, but would appreciate any information. Thanks in advance.

Haven't yet registered at that other site? Plastic.com's own Carl Steadman is running a special promotional offer for MeFi addicts: sign up with your MeFi username and receive, for the low-low price of free, 10 karma and 10 mod points.

Now the question remains: What can Matt offer Plastic.com users in return? Perhaps registration itself is enough of an incentive.

"Just give us a couple of days" said Plastic as they went offline about a week and a half ago. Anyone know if they're over and done with?? :(

Plastic.com has been down for at least the last 30 minutes... Their web servers respond, but with a blank HTML document. (I didn't think this warranted a front-page post, but it might if this goes on for much longer.)

does anyone get a redirect to plastic.com when they hit mefi? i've just started working at a copy place that starts with kink and ends with o's, and when i try to access mefi at work i get sent to plastic.com.

Directly arising from a thread that I posted on Metafilter about the pill and its effect on mate choice, another question arrives inexorably - I found the article in question via Plastic.com - which as we all know is the 'Metafilter it's not OK to like'. I suppose this is an issue of etiquette or policy - is it appropriate to post stories for discussion here which have already been covered there?
