Pony of Indeterminate Size: I'm not sure if we've discussed this before, but would it be okay to add a "Jobs Wanted" side to the Jobs area? I'm thinking about the wonderful response that the esteemed OP has gotten here, both publicly and privately. Many of us probably wouldn't have specific jobs to post, but would help out a fellow member or member's friend looking for something else. It would also be really useful for those of us who might consider going to a city but aren't sure what's out there, or those open to multiple types of work ["Looking for barista or English professor position in Portland"]. Plus we could post freelance offerings up there, too. Mainly, I envision a job-seeker posting something and others following up with details via MeMail. Thank you; come again.

A great suggestion surfaced in the jakee-fiasco thread below: A prominent link to MeTa threads in the blue (and green). Since that thread is approaching 500 comments, it's easy to miss the suggestion, but I think it merits its very own pony thread. Basically, a small notice between the text of the FPP and the first comment, saying something like: "This thread is the subject of a MetaTalk discussion." It would hopefully accomplish a couple things, particularly for newcomers to the thread:

Divert meta-discussion to the MetaTalk thread efficiently
Provide additional thread context for those who don't frequent MetaTalk
Potentially educate new MeFites about site etiquette
Improve the data model behind MeFi (because data is cool, and someone will eventually post funny statistics about it)

On the front page sidebar, it says "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago"—links to Metafilter, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 years ago. Could we please have this feature in Metatalk?

Feature suggestion: If a thread or comment is referenced in MetaTalk thread, display a little indicator on the referenced thread/comment and have it link to the MetaTalk discussion.

Reading the thread about the eBay scam stuff, it made me want a new pony.

Wouldn't it be neat if when someone takes a post to MetaTalk (for whatever reason), that the original post be marked somehow (maybe similar to the "best answer" check-mark) to indicate that it had been brought to the other forum (by that I mean MetaTalk). This would make the whole MetaUniverse™ a more unified whole, more interconnected...

It'd also be entertaining for grouses like me who love to watch a trainwreck happen...

Total Comments in AskMe and MeTa

When looking at a MetaFilter post, the line under the description looks like this:
posted by too_many_notes at 4:56 AM EST (13 comments total) ( feature_request ) [!]

However, in both MetaTalk and AskMetaFilter the "(13 comments total)" is missing. I find this information useful in the thread. Could the green and gray be more like the blue?

The MetaTalk front page currently reports two new comments but only shows me one. Obviously, a thread that has scrolled off the page is still active. How do I find out which one it is?

Can we start using [more inside] in metatalk? It's a pain to come upon posts like This one after they've had their desired effect and the comment has been deleted. Because you have to basically guess what is being complained about. [MI]

Ask MetaFilter is currently only available to those of us who come to MetaTalk. Since it's probably the best thing on MeFi since the sliced-bread thread, wouldn't it be an elementary courtesy to extend the service (and information) to the blue-only crowd? Is it really so marvellous that it deserves to be kept for us aficionados alone? Fwiw, I think we could use the extra minds and souls. Why not include a link (plus sidebar mention) on the main page? Or is it meant to be an insiders' secret? This, imho, is just wrong!

Lofi for Metatalk?

New Metatalk thread indicator

Could you please have a new MetaTalk thread indicator on the main page?

You could either have a MetaTalk (new) indicator in the menu on top, where the "new" doesn't need to be a link, or perhaps near the "There have been X links and Y comments posted since your last visit" you could display a new MetaTalk thread(s) indicator.

This feature is not important, but it would be nice, as I am sure there are others out there like me who forget to check MetaTalk a few times. :)

Too many categories, not enough stats

1. these forums are too small to have so many different categories, a single metatalk forum might be better

2. this should go in feature requests, but see above: I would love to see stats, on the site, on links, on users. it's one of the best things about weblogs, and if this is a community weblog, then how about tables and tables of statistics?

A double request: dragging entire threads into Metatalk and provisions for self-linking.

A suggestion for you, Matt. You might consider adding some easy way for you to move topics lock, stock and barrel, comments and all, from MetaFilter to MetaTalk. Then politely leave a link behind saying you've done it.

And having an enormous ego and desire for self-aggrandizement, I think you should have a section here in MetaTalk for people to post things about their websites. I have some things coming up I wouldn't mind the entire universe knowing about (as opposed to both people who come to my site), but I won't be so rude as to drop it into MetaFilter.
