Seeing the thread on letterpress, I thought to seek out other MeFites and also let them know how to find me in GameCenter. We have a thread here about this, but I would like to request a pony in the form of adding GameCenter to the Social Apps section of the user profile. Please?

Super minor pony request: the option to add a This Is My Jam updating widget to profiles? I know you can already have the TIMJ button on your profile, but there are additional widget options for showing recent updates for things like Last.fm, Flickr, LibraryThing, and Twitter. Was wondering if it'd be possible to add that for TIMJ. Asking 'cause I use TIMJ all the time and love it, and I figure there's probably some way to do this since you can crosspost TIMJ updates to Facebook and Twitter. But I don't know the ins and outs exactly, and the site's fairly new and small. Obviously this is not a pressing pony, but still. Thought it'd be cool and it doesn't hurt to ask.

Feature request for profiles: phone numbers. Could go under "Instant Messaging", could go under "Social Apps", I suppose. Google Voice, Skype, et cetera. Lots of folk have these set up separate from actual phones for use as online voicemail. Seems like it'd fit in okay with the other options on the profile.

Pony Express: in which updates to profiles could be displayed to contacts. Having recently had my situation change re:employment (I got some of the regular stuff after quite some time of the opposite) I thought the fact my profile had changed might be neat to have as an update for contact activity (on the right side of the FP). Details not necessary, but a change notice could be good. It is a bit social media, but if it's contacts only it should be unobtrusive. Obviously, it could be used for other than employment situations - but that's a feature. Plus, additional use of the profiles.

Pony Request: Signal to Noise ratio on profiles? I am perhaps overly proud that while I don't make many comments, many of those that I do make are selected as "best answer". In a perfect world I could inflate my vanity by seeing this reflected somewhere in my profile: For instance: "23% of your comments selected as best answers."

We can browse users' favorited posts/comments via their profile pages pretty easily. So, I'd like the same functionality when it comes to "best answers": ability to click on the number of "best answers" given to a user, and see which of their answers have been marked as such. I figure something as obvious as this would have been built in by now, so why ain't this pony prancing? Here's why I think this is a "Good Idea": • We can already see which of their answers have been favorited by other thread-readers, but not necessarily by the OP. If we're quantifying things like that (no, I know that favorites mean many things to many people), then shouldn't the OP's opinion should be given similar weight, if not more? • If it has something to do with people playing the system, the only effect I can see is that AskMeFites would be more likely to want to give great answers to boost their numbers and/or esteem. Result: better answers. (...or just more convincing answers? I'm pretty gullible.) • As an answer can be marked "best" only once, it would negate any incentive to give an answer just to garner high numbers. (...and favorites already provides that incentive.) (• While we're at it, I'd also like the same ability when it comes to seeing which of a user's MeFiMusic submissions have been playlisted.) The profile page, as I envision it being revised, would look like this:

MeFi: 12 posts, 1234 comments MetaTalk: 0 posts, 666 comments, 2 flameouts ha ha Ask MeFi: 23 questions, 68413 answers, 3 marked best answer Music: 18 posts, 145 comments, 1 playlist, [on 15 playlists?] Projects: 0 posts, 3 comments, I keep forgetting it's even here even tho it's awesome Jobs: 0 posts bueller, bueller [or maybe have it down here:] Favorites: 86 billion (yes this is tehloki's page) Favorited by others: 765 Best Answers: 3

In short, please direct me to the conversation y'all had where you said, "No, uhhh, we shouldn't do that," and then you shot this pony! I can't believe you people would be so cruel. I'd like to at least visit its grave.

Sorting 'users near me?'

Is it possible to sort or filter 'users near me' by fields besides distance? Such as 'number of comments/favorites/posts' or 'since last activity' or anything else, really.

Tiny Contacts Pony! Hopefully I didn't miss if this was asked/answered, but is there any way when clicking on someone's profile it can tell is if they have added us as a contact? It tells you if you've added someone when you look at their profile ( "so-and-so is a contact"), but in order to see if they've added you as a contact, you have to go back to your own profile.

Small request: could we have a link to our userpage (ala the "x members | You are logged in as: x / logout" seen on the mefi/ask/metatalk homepages) on post comment pages (and possibly all deeper pages) as well as on the front pages?

How about a "books I've read lately" feature on the profile page?

I've got a feature that I'd LOVE to see added, largely driven by the number of "I just finished reading this, what should I read next posts" ... a set of fields on our profile pages where we can add a book that we've recently read/enjoyed (perhaps by ISBN?), followed by a comments box. That way, members could build their "reading histories" over time, and they'd be available to the rest of the community. I realize there are plenty of stand-alone sites that do just this, but I'd love to see it integrated into MeFi, simply because I'd be very interested in checking in from time to time to see what certain posters are reading these days. We all kinda get to know each other over time, and there's an unusually high percentage of very literate people on this site. (Forgive, please, if this has been requested before.)

I have an idea that popped into my head while I was reading this.

Sometimes it comes up that people need/want to ask more than one question that warrants the use of AskMefi within the 2 week period. How about something in your profile where you could post semi-smallish questions + tags? These wouldn't be posted to the main page, but if someone had a similar question that they want to ask, these other smallish questions could come up in a tag search. Then, when the second searcher asks their question, maybe have something that pops up in the first person's profile next to their smallish question to alert them that a somewhat related question has been asked.

Note: I have no idea if this is one of those things that seems absolutely stupid or if it is too difficult to code or whatever. (I hope that "feature requests" was a good place to put this, even though it is probably nonexistant on anyone else's radar screen.)

QuickPony: Any chance we can please see the My Profile link bumped up to the top navigation bar, next to My Comments and Favorites? I love the quick-and-dirty account overview, but I don't love the scroll-to-bottom, or click through to main page, click user name action. (Or too much clutter? Discuss.)

I think that in the profile pages, the answer count for Ask MetaFilter should exclude the user's own comments in their own questions.

Has anyone ever come up with a method or numbering scheme that would allow the "Users Near This User" option to work for non-US members? If not, could something be developed? (For example, are there unused Zip code numbers that could be designated to major world cities, regions or countries and which would then allow me to see other Canadians who live in my city or at least province?)
