My post appeared to be deleted
because a page consisting mainly of a bibliography of internet publications of a prolific author (subject multiple mefi fpps) documenting his connections with right-wing political activism and with critiques of selected quotations is "editorially undiscriminating" and people don't like it. Editorially undiscriminating? Is MeFi now "fair and balanced." It seems like we are only allowed to talk about politics when provoked by someone like Balko (in a fpp) but can't actually examine the politics of provocateurs
on the internet.
My very first post on Metafilter (about N. Korea) was just deleted! Bummer. [more inside]
I think other versions of this post
linking to a video of Mormon temple ceremonies ought to stand if they're offered. [more inside]
You tell me how to retrieve the HTML from a post that got deleted plz kthx? (I posted something on the front page last night, and it got deleted for too much personal commentary. I'm fine with that.) User Goofyy and deleting admin kaz suggested that I re-post sans commentary. This is moderation, it's not racism. So is there an easy way to get the HTML of my post back, or will I have to just re-type it all? [more inside]
My contribution to a thread has disappeared. Why? [more inside]
Suggestion, not critical: perhaps a way to show that a post has been closed/deleted, in the style of the "X New Comments" update at the bottom of the thread? [more inside]
The "Which Bite Wins
" Askme was deleted. Could it be dug up and reanimated please? [more inside]
I posted in this
thread that I thought he should respond with, "Yeah, that's fucking bullshit, huh?" Did that get deleted? Is there a no profanity rule on mefi that I don't know about, or did I violate some other rule?
I'd probably want to sweep this booger-string of a deleted thread
under the rug too if it was my site. But it's sort of sad to lose such a gold star collection of mefi members practicing the non-bigotry they preach, so if anyone lost a comment they're particularly proud of the deleting mod pretty much invited you to re-post it to the open thread here
why was my AskMeFi response deleted? [more inside]
So I noticed that comments I've made in a posts which are subsequently deleted don't show up in my profile's activity...
: self-link, no. Friend-link, yes. Was this post deleted because it sucked, or because I know the guy? If both, I concede. If only because of association, is that transgression articulated somewhere? I couldn’t find it.
probably needs to be buried.
Um...I posted a link a little while ago and now the thread is gone. Did I double-post or something bad and didn't know it? It was about the Greek government outlawing electronic games...
I've just posted a story to the front page, and for whatever reason, it appears to have been deleted. Now, that in itself is fine - I can handle the rejection! But I would however like to know *why* it was deleted. Is it not possible to have some form of message left to offending user, informing them of why their post has been deleted?
Why was this post
The big fat lie? "The classic [misconception is that] 95 percent of all dieters never lose weight, and 95 percent of those who do will not keep it off. This will be correctly attributed to the University of Pennsylvania psychiatrist Albert Stunkard, but it will go unmentioned that this statement is based on 100 patients who passed through Stunkard's obesity clinic during the Eisenhower administration."

It was a great article, well researched and interesting. I didn't get to read any of the comments that people submitted because I'm getting a "nothing to see here" message when I click on the comments link. What gives? Bingo didn't make up the title...that is the title of the article. I can't see why this topic would be deleted. Any chance that it can be restored? Was this just a mistake or intentional?
This thread sucks
. The link doesn't jump down to the story, the subject matter isn't very funny or interesting, it's just stupid. The post is too long, the comments are pretty pointless. I would delete it, but it could create more trouble than it is worth. What should be done about sub-par links? Anything? Take the good with the bad?
