I can't post on AskMe - on the preview page, hitting Post just reloads the preview page. Firefox 2.0.0.1. Not seeing any error messages either.

Preview and final post modes have diverged. I keep seeing complaints, after munged or garbled messages, about how 'it looked fine in preview!' [bit more inside]

PonyFilter:
CDC Recommends... what?
It is obvious when you open the post because the headline is shown, but in the front page, it is just confusing... Can the headline be included on the front page, or can there be a note in the posting page that the headline is not shown on the FP, and shouldn't be used as part of the post summary

Idea: what if the "New Post" and "New Question" links vanish-or change to say "You are ineligible to post"-when you aren't eligible? That would eliminate a lot of the "Oh lemme ax metafilter about that." ...*click*... "Sweet Lady Marmalade! I can't yet!"
Then when you're allowed again they change back to normal.

Quick question - this is something I haven't been able to figure out. How do I post an FPP where the first words are not a link, such as
this recent one by TheWig? Every time I try to leave the URL blank, I get a warning and a request to "please correct this".
Am I just missing something? Forgive me if this is a hopelessly stupid question.

Why do you need to have a certain amount of comments in order to be able to post a link to the front page?
I've just come across this
brilliant documentary about Richard Feynman, but I'm not allowed to post it.
You cannot post to the front page at this time. This can be due to one of several things. You may not have been a member long enough, you may not have posted enough comments, or you may have already posted a link in the past 24 hours.
I've been a member for quite a while and haven't posted any link on the front page yet, so the reason must be that I lack the required number of comments. I understand that people need to have an idea what kind of links are appropriate on the front page; the question is whether the amount of comments one makes is a good metric to determine this. I don't often feel the need to comment on front page postings.

How can I post a question on AskMeFi using the anonymous account ? When I login using my username and try to post a question, I see a link to post the question anonymously but if I have already posted in the past 1 week, then this link does not appear.

Sometimes, like in threads like
this, it seems that some are either commiting PUI (posting under the influence) or PWI (posting while intoxicated). What is the correct terminology? (I ask because I do it all the time and it would make a great disclaimer!)

We just got this request a bit ago, but I'm afraid I must make a similar one. Can someone post an AskMe for me? I've got a time sensitive question and AskMe tends to be the best place to get good help [more inside]

Not a complaint--just a question.
Why is it that new FPP's will show up on the Metadash widget about 5-10 minutes before they actually appear on Metafilter? I refresh, still not there, despite the fact I can read it on Metadash. Some sort of time machine?

Having just made an FPP, I can still get to the posting page by pasting the
"post_good.mefi" link. I can also put in any user id and it still gets me into preview. I didn't dare to hit post though to see if that works, but I thought I'd point it out.

Here or AskMeFi?
i'm not sure if i should post this here or ask mefi, but i'm looking for an old post that i found around Thanksgiving.
It was a blog and/or humorous editorial about Thanksgiving in the White House. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and/or know where I can find it?
I've searched for keywords and searched the tags, but i'm just not finding it.

I want to make an FPP (my first), but I want to make absolutely sure it isn't a double post. What is the best/most thorough way to check this? I have tried googling key terms but I get so many results that it would be impossible to search through.

When posting to AskMe there is some confusion on the descriptions of the text boxes. I copied the italicized text from the "Preview Your Question" AskMe posting page.
Below the "Your question" box the text reads:
This will be the "more inside" area where you explain additional details about the question if necessary. If you use this space, don't write "more inside" to the question area, it will automatically be added for you.
Then below the "Extended explanation" box is something similar:
(optional) This will be the "more inside" area where you explain the question fully if necessary and remember there is no need to write "more inside" .....
I found this a little confusing and repetitive. I know that the top box is what would be a FPP, but maybe this could be phrased better? Is the text below the top box supposed to introduce/explain the second box? Of course, I posted a question so now I can't get back to the original "Post a new question" page to see if that is how this is written there.

On the AskMe preview page, the following text appears: "If everything seems right, hit the post button below. If not, hit your browser's back button and tweak the form again." How about: "...If not, edit below and hit the preview button again to confirm your changes before posting." or some such wording referencing the ability to edit ON the preview page?
This isn't really a bug, but it seemed the closest category

What if instead of being able to post a link every 24 hours, we simply post ever metafilter day? That would take away the need to count down the hours, make posting easier, and still have the same limiting effect.

Get to the question. Since the introduction of the system more inside feature in AskMe the number of posts where the
question isn't
on the
main page
has been
trending upwards. Yesterday was especially bad. It would seem that actually asking your question where skimmers can see it would be a prudent course of action.

I posted a new question to AskMeFi this morning, and after hitting submit, I was taken directly back to the
main page, where my question wasn't listed. I tried going back in to
post, but it said I'd already asked my question for the week. To be sure, I logged out and back in, and my question still didn't show up, and I couldn't re-ask it. What happened?

so, are there differences between the posting limits (once per week) on ask.mefi and metafilter proper? In other words, once you've posted anywhere on the Mefi network, do you have to wait a week to post elsewhere, or is the posting limit unique to each area?
Also, it would be cool if "best answers" were tallied for each user, and posting frequency tied to it somehow. Or not. Please don't hurt me.

Could we please not allow someone to start an Ask MeFi thread before they have contributed to the site by posting comments somewhere? It is really not too much to ask. I know this could be abused by someone posting periods or "What so and so said", etc. I wonder if there is an elegant solution.

Minor feature request: a via field on the blue's posting page. As part of the redesign, I'd love to see an optional field for including a "via" link. Two reasons: (1) it would encourage posters to acknowledge the source of the link, if applicable; and (2) it would allow
some interesting statistics to be generated from the aggregation of via data.

How many roads must a man walk down before they call him a man? I tried to post a link to the front page but was told that I haven't commented enough to earn that right yet -- but nowhere can I find stated how many comments I have to make first. I did a MeTa search but either I was unable to refine my search terms properly or the question has never been posed. Does anyone know, or do I have to take this upstairs? It's a damn fine link, too.

Sorry if this has been covered, but will we have the chance to go back to our old AskMe posts and not only tag them (as is currently possible) but also put them in the correct category, as as currently not possible? And is there any volunteer effort being organized to go through and tag (and/or categorize) old posts that have not been tagged by their creators?

Is a
triple post okay if you
knew it
was one? (The person who posted this must have known, since the
search included in the post shows it.) Is it okay if there are a few more links included this time, and the text is on a different site now? Finally, is it okay if the goal is simply to elicit more discussion on the topic, as it seems to be here?

I had a good AskMeFi question and went to post it but got the No Posty For You page.
Would it be possible to get a countdown timer involved so that I could get an idea of when I could ask the question?

When you're previewing a question in AskMeFi, it tells you to hit back on your browser to tweak the question. When you do, the initial text you wrote no longer appears in the box. (Or is this just me?)

I don't care if it
is phrased in the form of a question.
Using AskMe to get in a second post because you "already shot [your] wad today with a different MeFi front page post and thought this merited a posting" is just not on.
