I'm sorry, I can't let this post pass without comment [more inside]

How common is the practice of putting a space before a period/question mark ? Because the person who posted this question did it, as did two people in this thread.

And all 3 of these people mention the same online eyeglass shop in their posts...

Thank you for the post double-question-mark.

peacay is referring to '김치' but only sees '??'. There are a lot of people not getting the proper encoding, what's the best way to update, through the browser?

Ran into the unescaped quotation marks in title problem when posting to the blue just now. My entire title was a quotation, so my post now has no title. A warning of some sort on the post entry page would be great until this (admittedly minor) bug can be fixed.

Quotation marks automatically terminate post titles.

Can anyone explain why metafilter won't display correct apostrophes and open/close quotes? I'm compulsive about them (I'm a graphic designer), they preview correctly, they work in normal html, but come up as question marks when posted.

some examples:

apostrophe: ’
open quote: “
close quote: ”

A suscpicion: maybe it's the spell check...

Thanks.

Words or phrases enclosed in quotation marks (e.g. "too much") are ignored by the search app, while the the same words work fine when used without the quotes. What gives?

I suppose this is just a personal preference thing, but using italics to quote linked material in front page posts makes them hard to read (not to mention looong bold and linked text, too). I just want to encourage the use of quotation marks instead. They are faster to type and easier on my eyes.
