Who has the most favorited comment?

It's possible to find the most favorited post of all time but is it possible to find the most favorited comment of all time? Or a ranking system that does something similar to the post system (week, 30 days, all time) for comments?

A top 10 artist list in MeFi Music?

MetaFilter Music request: would it be difficult to implement a top 5 or 10 all time of MeFites with the most uploaded tracks, as well as most playlisted or played selections? [more inside]

Huffington Post, Lifehacker, Metafilter

Metafilter is ranked #3 (is it a ranking?) on Time Magazine's first annual blog index. The full list on one page (via Valleywag).

MeFiWhack!

Since apparently MeFi users want a way to rank each other, here's an easy way to do it. You take one of your posts, and a tag from that post. Then, you find out how many google hits the tag generates vs. the number of times it is used as a tag in MetaFilter. The winner is the person who has the highest google-hit to MeFi tag ratio.

[-fave] button

In this thread, there is some horrifically bad advice being offered (along with a lot of good advice, I should add). Would it be a good idea to implement a [-fave] button as well as a [+fave] button? I would certainly have wanted to mark down a few of the answers if I had the chance.

Why is MetaFilter only No.28 in the BlogShares online game?

Why is MetaFilter only No.28 in the BlogShares online game, recently written about on Rediff? What does it mean, if anything? Just how influential is MetaFilter, compared to other blogs? Is it really true that "The sphere of influence a blog is generally gauged by the blogs linking to it. That means a blog's importance grows if several other important (well-linked) bloggers link to it"?

Ranking most linked sites? Search posts by site?

Is there a way to see a ranking of the sites most often linked to by mefi members in their posts? (would be interesting to see where mefi takes us every day, sites might find it interesting to, if that mattered) Also, is there a way to search for all mefi posts linked to a particular site? (was going to post something from ApeCulture but then thought maybe everyone goes there already, so why bother) Thanks.

Member Power Rankings

In the past we've discussed how to filter posts or adding "ignore" or "love" tags to certain people. The Raging Bull investment site has an interesting system for ranking users with dollar signs: Member Power Rankings

blog rankings

because of cliquiness and popularity rankings. I don't think the author gets that not many people take the popularity rankings seriously. And when people redesign, they're doing for themselves or their readers, not for higher rankings. I haven't checked the beebo site in a couple weeks, and when I did, I was surprised to see how high MetaFilter was.

Weblog-as-genre is blowing up in terms of numbers, especially if you open up the definition of weblog to "anything regularly updated and listed in some sort of time frame." Tools like blogger are making personal publishing easier and there will be more and more of these types of pages everyday. I don't see an end in sight or any cause for concern from the "old guard" of the weblog community. About the only problem weblog writers and readers face is trying to find and read all the good ones each day. But that's what update lists and meta-blogs are for.
