I'm trying to track down a post about a poster. About a year ago or so, there was a post on the blue about a poster highlighting all of the mistakes and scandals of the Bush Adminstration. If I recall correctly, the poster was created by a bunch of graphic designers, and the outcome was quite striking: black and white with a list of words like "Katrina" and "Abu Ghraib." I've tried searching the archives but can't find it anywhere. If anyone remembers the poster I'm referring to and can find the link to the post, that would be splendid. Thanks!

Ok. So, lets get two things straight-
a) i am a looooong time lurker.
b) i have just finished reading Anantham by Neal Stephenson.
I distinctly (DISTINCTLY!!) remember reading a post about this book and its idea of quantum consciousness, but deliberately (DELIBERATELY!!!) avoided it due to a wish to avoid spoilers. So, i ask two things- a) did this thread exist, or did i imagine it? (should the affirmative be affirmed, please take heed that i used all my google-fu to find this this thread to no effect...) b) look, we've got freakin' blogspot blogs listin' metafilter's deleted threads. Can we not register 'worstoftheweb.com' or 'deleterfilter.com' and make these threads searchable... Keep on rockin'. MeFi is the best ON the web.

Just personal curiosity at work here- I noticed a reference elsewhere a few days ago to recording the upcoming podcast, which, unaccountably, cheered me up. (I look forward to the podcasts, because like as not they cover something interesting I didn't see in my normal perusals of the site.) So, what I got to wondering was ... ... how long does the post production take after you guys record the 'cast? What's the process, Matt? :) Or is it sitting locked away in a vault, waiting to be published in the dark of night, when the entrails that need be cast are ripened sufficiently?

I have looked, and haven't found, and it has been nagging me ever since I saw it and lost it, like there is something missing from my brain that needs to be there... I saw an AskMe post once about activities in LA, and one of the answers mentioned some group that does cool stuff like refurbishing wheelchairs in LA, and now I can't find it. Does anyone know where this might be? I am looking for something similar in NY, not wheelchairs necessarily, but volunteer opportunities where you make/fix stuff.

I'm looking for a post I read here — at least I think I did — concerning the natural evolution of online communities. The conclusion talked about population growth leading to divisive groups that clash with each other leading to the decline of the community... or something along those lines. I did try to search for it, but it's either not here (possible, but I could've sworn...) or my search-fu is failing me. If someone could help point out where I saw this, I'd be grateful. Anyone remember this?

Please help me find an old post! I will admit I do not know if this is in the right section or not- however! Someone made a great post (I think on the blue, but I searched for a month back and did not find it) about xmas gift ideas and cool sites to look for gifts. The post said something like "I made this thread last year and people seemed to find it helpful..." etc. Like I said, I looked back in the blue, tried the tag search options and typed in the search bar "christmas", "gifts", "gift ideas", etc. Apparently my searching methods suck- help!

Trying to find what I think was an AskMe (or possibly MeFi) comment from a while back, wherein the commenter outlines the fictional life story of someone whose aim is to make a lot of money so they can be happy, but ends up missing the mark along the way and turns into someone rather unhappy (but with the money). I'm pretty sure the original question or post was along the lines of "how can I make gobs of cash by the time I'm 40 so I can have money to do the things I love?". At the very least, the comment/reply in question was longish and showed how someone like the asker, who liked guitar (?) and had an artsy girlfriend in college, could go down that road, go to law school, enter a law firm, intending to just make good money for a few years and then retire or whatnot...but ends up sucking their soul out instead, having the girlfriend leave him, getting a trophy wife and a BMW, and turning into a grumpy middle-aged lawyer. My search for this was sparked by this recent AskMe because I remembered the earlier reply being potentially topical. Now I no longer care whether or not it gets posted in that thread; I just want to find and bookmark it! Finally, if anyone finds it via searching instead of having it bookmarked/favorited, please let me know what search terms you used - I tried a bunch of related words/phrases and it didn't turn up.

I'm looking for a post--either on the front page or in Ask MetaFilter--about a website that offered work-for-trade, or work-for-services, or some such. I remember the site could be used, for example, by a bricklayer and a painter, where the painter needed a new patio and the bricklayer needed his house painted--sort of an eBay for trade skills. I can't remember if it was an FPP, or a link posted as part of a comment, or an answer to an AskMetaFilter question. Anyone?

I remember reading a few years back on the blue a link about incidents of accidental criticality, or some similar title. The page was a list of all (unclassified?) incidents in US laboratory history where a critical mass of fissionable material was brought together in a lab and what happened. My Google-fu is failing me, in part I think because this predates titles and tags...

I recently got drunk with: a former professor and a chemistry major and claimed that: dry ice + ethanol === near instantaneous intoxication. Now that I'm mostly sober my Google fu fails to reveal evidence (in youtube + MeFi post form) to substantiate my claim. I'm 98.23% certain that I saw/learned this factoid on MeFi. Could some kind soul please help me? Confirm, deny, deride -- at the very least inform -- me. Just point, if so kind you would be, in the direction of the link - y. :-) Thanks.
