The Single Best Method I've Found for... Given the perennial popularity and utility of "What's your favorite way to X" AskMe questions, and recipe questions, and frankly, the to-me fascinating quality of stuff like this, why not have a MeFi section devoted to lifehacks, recipes, and other time/money/environment/effort-saving shortcuts? The "Eat Me" Wiki, for example, is a nice compendium... but it looks like someone put some effort and time into it. Why not just have a section in which MeFi users can post lifehacks at random, so that users can just find these things via tags? Applying the voting system used for Projects might add to such a section's usefulness.

Also, add gin. But not on a Thursday morning.

In the midst of the awful heat wave sweeping my chunk of the East Coast, I just want to call attention to this fabulous lemonade recipe by Elsa. Three years ago, I read this comment and filed it away in the back of my mind. Three days ago, I thought "wow it's 98 degrees and humid, I sure wish I had a glass of lemo- wait a sec what was that recipe again?" Today I am sitting in class drinking the best lemonade I've ever had and I figured the rest of you might want to know about it. Thanks, Elsa! Everybody else: make this dang lemonade already.

In December, OmieWise posted a fantastic link to Gourmet Magazine's Favorite Cookies 1941–2008. Most of the pages for earlier years' recipes are now gone. Gourmet isn't writing back. Anyone have the presence of mind to save some of these? For example, the first link on the 1940s page, Cajun Macaroons, gives a "Content Not Found" error. Many of these are still available in Google cache form, although managing to find and save all of them would be a bit of a pain.
