Hello, San Francisco! I've been living here for six weeks now and already I know that this is the perfect place and time for me to exist. I love everything and everyone here, and I want to marry you all and best friend you and have a thousand million babies with you. Which is to say, YES! I live here now! KEEEEE YAH! Which is to say, YES! LET'S! MEET! UP! I'm thinking ~~Dec 18th~~ [note: Dec 19th instead, see below], because that is the day that maximizes the greatest amount of awesome for our awesome. I'll leave it up to you where we shall meet, and pray to Tlaloc and Marduk that this doesn't have to involve a spreadsheet. (and if you think I'm joking, look back at some of the NYC meetup threads) (although, to be fair, the spreadsheet did work pretty well.)

Bay Area mefites - let's get the planning started for cortex's 9/29 visit! I figured I'd start this off. Although we're pretending that this whole cortexian world tour thing ISN'T a competition among cities to prove who can throw the best meetups, we should still manage to show cortex some love. He's here Tuesday September 29th. The weather should be good - what about starting at Zeitgeist? Outside, good beer, the tamale lady, etc. We could potentially adjourn to Pauline's or another nearby restaurant if some folks are less enthused about meeting in a bar. I imagine there might be some sort of wandering about the city earlier in the day for those of us with fewer work-type restrictions. Maybe the Academy of Sciences? Also bacon donuts. I did try to convince cortex that he should be here for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, to no avail. I even mentioned the banjos. Any other mefites interested in a subsequent HSB gathering?

I will be in San Francisco from 9-12 September to take part in SF Shorts. Let's have a meetup! My short film "A Doorman's Lullaby" will be playing as part of Program 1 on 10 September at 9:30 and on 12 September at 7:30 at the Red Vic Movie House in the Haight. I'm still working out my lodging, but someplace around the Haight would be great, and I'm a sucker for inexpensive and tasty.

San Francisco MeFites, I want to meet you! I'll be in San Francisco from June 3-6, and while I have plans, my Friday night (June 5) is free so far. Is anyone interested in a meetup? I've never been to one before, but after reading the thread about going to meetups, I'm excited. I wanted to go to a Toronto meetup, but plans to be downtown fell through for me. So, what say you? (Anywhere accessible by public transit works for me!)

Christmas? Chanukah? Kwaanza? Festivus? Who the hell cares!? Everybody knows the funnest holiday ever is really SanFranProdigalMefitesMeetupMas! This year, it falls on December 27th! And so I'm making a point of swinging through after the family jazz. contraption and I thought perhaps dinner over a couple of Zante's Indian Pizzas would be enjoyable, and then a cocktail or so? Of course, as mere pilgrims, we're always open to better ideas! I could totally go for something extra dorky like a white elephant, too! Ya think? So very excite. How about another San Francisco meet up, say October 24 or 25? Someone was just asking when the next meet up was, and mrzarquon happens to be visiting from Seattle that weekend. Mrzarquon wants to go see the new Cal Academy of Sciences building, as do I, but that's a bit spendy for a meet up. Something involving drinks on Friday or Saturday evening would also be good. Any ideas? Who's interested?

I'm headed to San Francisco for Slow Food Nation next week. How about a meetup? My travel plans involve getting in Tuesday afternoon, the 26th. I have flexible time Tuesday day and evening, Wednesday (the 27th) day, and Friday (the 29th) evening. Saturday day, I'll most likely be going to the events of Slow Food Nation (Taste Pavilion, Marketplace, etc) , but would welcome company should anyone else want to go to those. Anyone interested?

San Francisco Sunday Brunch? Meh. Washington DC Longest Table in the House Sunday Brunch with Extra Bacon! I am thinking the second Sunday in August for this fry-up. Any suggestions for a place and time? I'd thought of Busboys and Poets but their brunch is so boring now. The Florida Avenue Grill is definitely out of the question. But there are some excellent places around H Street now...

The Brit abroad - San Francisco Meetup in August? I'm going to be at An Event Apart in San Fran in August, plus a few more days. The conference itself is Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th, but I'll be there 17th - 23rd. I'd love to see how some of you West Coast MehFee members do the meetup thang, and, y'know, maybe actually meet some of you. I guess the Wednesday or Thursday night would be best. What do you think? Also, I'll be packing my axe, so if any of you know where an energetic electroacoustic singer-songwriter might get the chance to do an inaugural Stateside set, please let me know. SF Meetup for woebegone emigrating mefite duo's sousy sendoff? Needs to be April 19th! contraption and I have the jobs, the house, and the moveout date all set. We're headed to a very mefite-dead expanse of sunny SoCal, where he'll continue to program toys for the superrich and I'll proceed to fall deeper into irrelevance and debt.
