For sale is a problem?

For sale is a problem? Someone posted a link to something I had posted to Projects. (I had nothing to do with the post, though I did work on the game posted.) That it was removed so bluntly seems weird to me. [more inside]

Just when you thought it was safe to post again

Is this post about shark species extinction, and the member who created it (a "Shark conservation biologist"), crossing the line into spamming/schilling? The linked article is weak and has an obvious agenda, the user and the writers of the blog linked have many connections and the username chosen by the poster is based on the title of his upcoming book. I don't think any harm was intended but it sounds like the guy is using the front page to sell himself, his cause and his book. If so, is that ok?

Matt, will you ever sell Metafilter?

Now that bloglines is away to new corporate overlords (hopefully, to not be destroyed in the process), I find myself wondering when the other services I like will get gobbled up.

Personally, I'm curious - Matt, will you ever sell Metafilter?

Selling MetaFilter

I was just reading the "About MeFi" page and was struck by the quote "If you'd like to partner with MetaFilter, license the code, buy it outright, or hire me to build a similar site, email me and we can discuss terms." Would you really sell your baby, Matt? And at what cost/under which circumstances? Would all the old-school MeFi'ers be pissed? Just curious.
