I can only listen to the first few seconds of any song on MeFi music. I hit play, the first 2-3% of the song loads, and then the music cuts out. This seems to be a problem on my end, and I'm hoping someone has suggestions. [more inside]

How long should a generally good contributor be banned for giving a
bad jokey answer to a controversial AskMe topic?

I can't load metafilter in Firefox. Internet Explorer loads it fine. Non-tabbed browsing is killing me. Help! (more inside)

In my experience, the exact phrase search for AskMe usually times out when searching through "answers only" or "questions and answers." I assume this is simply due to the size of the data. I'd hate to see this functionality disappear, as Google is pretty useless for AskMe. If a dedicated MetaFilter Search Cluster is not an option, perhaps we could have a way to specify date ranges?

Matt, if you won't give this offensive ^%@&! a timeout, can you at least do your pointless-personal-attack-comment-deletion thing??? Or is this really how you want your site represented to the world? It's disruptive, divisive, and totally uncalled for.

Banned from MeFi? Are there any hard and fast rules? Why does lazy-ville get banned for weeks, others only a week, and others forever? If I ever happen to step on someone's toes while on a bender or something, I just want to know what the results might be. Also, is there any page for information regarding who's been banned in the past?

I haven't seen the search time out for months. Could we afford to set "since day one" as the default?

Every time I post, the ping to weblogs.com times out. The post goes through, so I guess we're all OK, but I thought I'd mention it. Does this seem to be a regular thing for everybody else?

These days there's enough traffic on MeFi (which is a good thing) that it takes a while, what with interruptions and such, to get through all the new links, comments, and new comments on previously-seen threads. So Matt, could you increase the timeout setting (or make it configurable on the User Page) for deciding when to update the new comments count? Thanks!

I am more than fed up of this sort of nonsense being posted to MeFi. Can we give some sort of community time-out or other shot over the bows here? [See also here.]
Kablam: were you not content with comments like this last time?
"...I'd think a site should at least have to have a shred of legitimacy to rate a front-page link here...
I find it doubtful that there is anything on this website that is not a lie...You know, being linked to by MeFi is going to make this nazi's guy's day...It's not out of line to expect some sort of warning, if the post has a link of questionable nature...Crap link=Crap Post...we don't want to give these assholes hits..."Various posters

Since about 6:00am PST, I must have had about 30+ server timeouts like so:
Error Occurred While Processing Request
Error Diagnostic Information
Request canceled or ignored by serverServer busy or unable to fulfill request. The server is unable to fulfill your request due to extremely high traffic or an unexpected internal error. Please attempt your request again (if you are repeatedly unsuccessful you should notify the site administrator). (Location Code: 26)
Anyone else having problems?
