Timezone bug in Ask?

Timezone bug in Ask? There appears to be a problem with the user time offset setting & AskMefi. Currently, my local & system time is 9.38am, and my user timezone is set to +17hrs (Aust east coast, no DST) from server time. Mefi, Meta, Music & Jobs posts & comments all show correct local times (e.g the most recent post in Mefi shows for me as October 6 @ 6:33am), but Ask doesn't seem to reflect my timezone properly - the time in the header bar is OK, but posts and comments (e.g. this one I made a few minutes ago) show without the offset i.e. "posted by Pinback at 4:17 PM on October 5", instead of "posted by Pinback at 9:17 AM on October 6".

Anyone else seeing this?

Time Zone Preferences ?

Why are times shown on the green (apparently) somewhere in middle-east ? A new post just added at 01:07 UTC shows up as 5:07AM (apparently Dubai time ?).
So you've been planning for years to be the first person to make a post concerning scanning cats tonight. I can personally tell you, it is like joining a very prestigious and sexy VIP club. Oh the massages and seafood buffet! Don't forget though, in the spirit of friendly competition, the MeFi Server time is in a Particular Time Zone.
I've got my timezone set to UTC but Meta thinks it's 0.25 on the 14th when it's actually 23.25 on the 13th. Is this a 2k7 date hack that's fecked the site up for all non-Americans, or has the time gone wrong for everyone?

Best Time For UK AskMe?

When is the best time for a UK mefite to post in Askme for a quick response. I'd assume this would involve establishing the area/timezone the majority of me-fites are in and when they logon / read and respond. Where are you and when do all y'all "check in" or do your posting?

(And should this be an Askme question?!)

Just now in a comment I tried to include a link to a URL which contained a seven-letter word beginning with "f" that has become an epithet for those on the right side of the political spectrum. I tried to post it twice and both times when I hit "post" the screen refreshed but my post didn't show up. Is there some sort of filtration going on?
Standardizing timezone names

"EST" = "Eastern Standard Time"; "EDT" = "Eastern Daylight saving Time"; "ET" = "Eastern Time" (no standard/daylight specified -- usually obvious which it is). It's to be expected that people will make these mistakes in FPPs and comments, but could you tweak the code so it doesn't say "EST" when it really doesn't mean "EST"? Rather than trying to come up with some code algorithm, or trying to remember to make the DST change every six months, just call it ET / CT / PT / etc and be done with it. A pet peeve of mine ...
