Do MeFites really look askance at fat people?

I have noticed lately that the topics of many of the FPP's that I read on Metafilter end up being features on CBC Radio a day or two later. Just wondering if we had a member using MeFi as a tool for providing content for their radio show on a regular basis. Is it you Sook-Yin?

Is it proper ettiquete to request topics for FFPs? I would like one on Ettore Majorana and also one on Federico García Lorca, the opera Ainadamar, deep song...

We obviously can't have respectful discussions about evolution. Every time the topic comes up, the same insulting "discussion" occurs. Seeing as how no new information is ever presented in these topics, shouldn't they all be considered double posts and deleted? When they are nothing more than another opportunity to display your disgust with someone who disagrees with you, what value do they add to the site?

what? posts around here have often had lots of extra links about a topic, but is it too much to ask that the text of a post at least make sense? Personally, I'd like to get a clear idea of what I'm clicking on (even if it doesn’t elucidate the full scope) in mefi posts.

I recently posted a thread about a nike shoe ad that I found interesting, and it did not go over well. How does one post a thread about an ad that you would like to show for the ad's sake, not the product? how do you assure the community that you are not part of some viral ad campaign?

Are there some "hot button" topics that are sure to send any thread into a deadfall?

Poemfilter? I know we've entered into this territory many times before about movies, foods, beer, and recently politics, but is Metafilter really the place to post Nobel-prize winning poets on the front page?

I'm not knocking the people who posted the threads, but does anyone else feel like every online discussion about a death is really just an excuse for people to mourn their own future demise (complete with overstated praise for themselves and why-God-why lamenting)?
