Watch Mad Men in vintage style in Tucson, Sunday evenings?

Now that Season 3 of Mad Men has begun, I'm seeking a way to watch it weekly, and it occurred to me that we Tucson MeFites have an especially stylish way to do so.... ... in The Shelter Cocktail Lounge. It's decorated in vintage JFK memorabilia, to give you a shorthand to the vibe there. Would anyone be interested in meeting 10pm Sunday nights to watch an episode and drink a vodka gimlet?

Yesterday's Craig Ferguson thread was kicked off with a comment by argedee: "I could be that funny too, with a laugh track like that." The thread turned into a discussion about laugh tracks and whether Craig uses one or not. In his monologue last night, Craig addressed "rumors on the internet" that his audience laughter isn't real. Argedee got called out on late night TV! "Yes, they're an audience machine operated by a teamster backstage. There are two things we can be sure of: I'm not funny and they're not an audience machine! Don't you ever call my friends an audience machine again." Craig is mad at us. The Late Late Show page's clip of Craig's monologue cuts out the rumored laugh track part of the discussion, but you can still hear him call the audience an audience machine from time to time.

Internet much?!

Does anyone else feel it's a little unusual for characters in a prime time show(Dexter) to use internet talk? In the show "Dexter" I've noticed the characters saying "verb much ?!" a couple times through out the three seasons. First time it was Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) startled by someone and said "Sneak much?!" while the second time it was Dexter (Michael C. Hall) driving and stuck behind a slow vehicle saying "Drive much?!" I was always under the impression that this sort of talk is more of internet slang. Does anyone else find this a bit unusual? I can't really give a specific reason why but it just feels a little strange to me.

MeFi's own EmpressCallipygos and Greg Nog appeared on Good Morning America during the Bacon Takedown on Sunday in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. More pictures and stuff available here. Greg Nog made a Bacon Cake and EmpressCallipygos made Bacon Cookies.

[WestHollywood Meetup?] Hi! I'm Melody! And I'm going to be in West Hollywood this weekend for work. It's my first time in LA. Would you like to have brunch on Sunday? I've never been to LA and I'm flying there for a TV pilot on Monday. But I have the weekend free, I'm bad with directions, and I don't really know anyone in LA. I also don't have a car. I'm staying at the London West Hollywood. If anyone's around, or knows of anything going on within walking distance -- or would like to have brunch and/or show a gal around, please let me know (and if you come to Chi, I'm happy to return the favor...) Disclaimer: This is something you need a TV to know about...
Has anybody but me seen a commercial for Volkswagen (apparently SoCal VW Dealers, but maybe showing in other regions) in which the salesman outside the car is pointing out all the comfort features to the wife in the driver's seat while the husband on the passenger's side is just using the power seat to go up and down and up and down? You'd know it if you saw it, because the actor playing the husband is (to me) a dead ringer for Matt Haughey (including the glasses). I can't find a video of that commercial online anywhere, but I wonder if some actor is going to make a career out of impersonating Our #1... (Or is the resemblence just another sign of my worsening dementia?) Dammit, they are the same glasses!!!

Constantly on the lookout for new, fresh talent, I looked on the Userland "Most Most Read Sites Yesterday" page. At the top of that list, with 19,105 reads yesterday as well as at the top of the "Most Read Sites" (of all time, presumably) with 4,679,582 reads, is MattyG's TV and Movie Theme Songs ... and more!. My point? Well, a) all the action is on the discussion boards (no post on the main page since November 20, 2000, and b) Matt Garland's site does one thing very well, non-commercially.

So, now that you've won a TiVo, what will you do with it?
