Ui and feature request for Recent Activity page

Here's a couple of requests concerning the Recent Activity page and one for errors when previewing. 1. Currently the ability to mange posts removed from Recent Activity is hidden at the bottom of the page. Can we move that link to the top, as in this mock up? 2. If a user makes a comment in a post that they have removed from Recent Activity, can that post automatically be placed back on the Recent Activity page? 3. On preview: I forgot to select a category for this post and was confused about why I wasn't getting a "Post" button. After looking around for a few seconds, I saw the error, which hidden within the page. So could we make that error message more noticeable? Here's the original and here's a revamp.

Interesting response posted in this recent AskMe regarding insurance woes. I've been returning to that question to see whether Clarkstonian has posted any follow-ups (I'm obsessive that way), and noticed this comment from the insurance company. HAP created a MeFi account today, for the purpose of offering advocacy and assistance to Clarkstonian's family. Is this good? Bad? Indifferent? I don't know, but I was interested to see the health insurer go to that length to make contact and offer advocacy services, and sort of wondered how often we see something like that happen in AskMe and what we think of it.

user page quote about a house razed and a family

I'm trying to find a quote from someone's user page I think, about a house razed and a family slayed. Hi, A few months ago I think I read in someone's user page a quote that went something like: “I returned home and my house was burnt to the ground and my wife and all my family had been killed. After that I had to walk for many days to try to find a place to live, and I walked through the battlefields and my feet bled and my clothes ripped from me.” It may have gone on further. It was apparently a quote from an old priest from the middle ages or something. When I first read it I googled a few lines and found one citation in Google Books where the same passage was quoted, but this time, IIRC, it was written in what was apparently the original old English. In both cases I think the quoted passage was about 5x the length of my re-imagined paraphrase. I've tried googling “site:http://www.metafilter.com/user/” with different combinations of ‘wife’, ‘burned’, etc, but so far no luck. Can anyone help me find this passage? Thanks very much.

Searching posts by user via keyword?

Am I missing something from the search function? I can't ever, ever seem to find posts. Always when I try to go back to refind a link or something, I completely miss it. I use the search box up top, and google search in metafilter, but still I no findey. Is there a function to search by posts from a particular user containing certain words? Example: There's a thread I'm looking for that talks about wetshaving. I posted in that thread...twice I think. Keywords I know I used: grandfather, straight razor, merkur HD. I can't remember the site I linked to...but more importantly someone discussed a place to buy blades in bulk. I WANT THAT LINK! Lulz. I think I'm just missing something obvious, anyone care to chime in?

Tag+user searching broken for retro-tagged posts?

Listing posts by a specific user with a specific tag fails for some older posts, probably because they've been retrospectively tagged. For instance, look at two posts about juggling. This recent one by staggernation comes up in a search for staggernation's posts about juggling. This one by MiguelCardoso doesn't come up in a search for MiguelCardoso's posts about juggling — I'm guessing that it's been retrospectively tagged, and that retrospective tags don't work with the user-searching feature.

Search within comments?

Rank Users Based on Favorites

Why not make a page that ranks users based on how many "favorites" their comments, FPPs, and questions garner? I'm not sure hard how this would be to create, but it might be a nice incentive to post quality items. Also, it would highlight some of the dedicated, and/or imaginative members of Mefi. Just a thought.

Further to me asking this, I'd love it if Matt would make a(nother) RSS feed for each user, listing all of their contributions (posts and comments [or maybe just posts?]) - basically, a what-I-said-on-MeFi Feed. Is it a big strain on the server, making these feeds? There seem to be a lot per-user already.

Semantic Wording About Favorites

On the user profile page, the "# of comments marked by others as a favorite" is incorrectly worded. I think that the wording should be changed to something like, "# of times contributions by 'user x' were saved by others" instead. Or is it possible to snip the dupes and only include the unique posts and comments that were favorited (in the # itself)? I read this thread, but it didn't seem to discuss the language I'm referring to.

Cedar has posted an interesting AskMe question on how to occupy oneself during three months in the stir. But when curious minds eager for details on how he came to such a predicament click on the Homepage URL link in his user profile page, they're greeted with a "Whoa!!" NSFW porn site.

Shouldn't he warn folks on the profile page? Should I or someone warn readers of the AskMe thread? What's the drill on something like this? [And I hate to be paranoid, but could it be possible this is an attempt to drive traffic to said porn site?]
