Prank War 6

UpdateFilter: So, you thought Prank War was hilarious? Lame? Either way, it's tough to imagine topping pranking (/ruining the life of) your friend in front of a sold-out Yankee Stadium.

Sidebarred comment about Intentional Instability Model is a conspiracy theory

I see that jefgodesky's summary of Jeff Vail's "Intentional Instability Model" has been linked to the sidebar. I suppose this is somewhat subjective, but I'd describe it as a conspiracy theory backed by no evidence whatsoever, not really the best of MetaFilter.

The historical description of British policy also seems completely bogus to me. The British regarded the Middle East as their lifeline to India. It makes no sense for them to have deliberately set up Iraq to fail.

Help Me Find Nuclear War Thread

I remember sometime ago there was a thread about an article speculating what would actually happen in a full nuclear war at the height of nuclear proliferation. I'm having trouble searching for it because of the bulk of threads devoted to the topic of nukes. Do you remember it?

Tired of bush/iraq/war/terror posts

Could someone skilled in JavaScript please compose a script for the Firefox extension Greasemonkey that will remove any FPP with "Bush", "Iraq", or "War on Terror" appearing in the text? It would also be great if this script could allow custom word filtering.

From here:
If you're going to make a post related to Iraq and the impending war, please reconsider, as the topic has been discussed previously many times.
Um. Impending?
Tired of war-related threads? Yes. Tired of non-war threads that feel the need to make reference to the fact that they are not war-related? Yes again.

Can we have an alternative frontpage where all the posts which mention Iraq are filtered out? I'm getting a bit tired of this war thing and would like to enjoy my MetaFilter Iraq free. Something like www.metafilter.com/noiraq.mefi would be greatly appreciated!

how many MeFites visit fark?

I've noticed in a lot of recent threads a rather severe animosity towards our neighbors over at fark.com. Now obviously FARK is not exactly Mensa grade material, but I've found it is good for laugh and for entertaining bar-brawl style arguments. As someone who visits both MeFi and Fark daily I find they both provide nourishment for the opposing sides of my psyche, MeFi for my thoughtful, intellectual side and Fark for the mook within. Now I can't believe I'm alone in this. I'm just curious, just how many MeFites are also regular(or at least closet) Farkians?
