Is the Last.fm widget busted? For several weeks I've just been seeing "Couldn't load the tracks from Last.fm" on my profile and everyone else's, using both Firefox on OSX and iOS.

The LibraryThing widget is pulling random books from your LibraryThing account. Since Twitter and Last.fm and many of the others seem to default to most recent, it seems like the LibraryThing widget should pull your most recent books too, just to be consistent.

Is there a current, viable Metafilter-specific Mac OS X Dashboard (or, for that matter, Windows-compatible) widget out there? I've found the old threads about Metadash, but the page is defunct. I guess I could use a generic RSS widget, but I'd love something written from the ground up for this place.

Did someone ask for a Konfabulator (or should I say Yahoo!) widget? Here you go. Nothing very clever, no match for the Dashboard version, but it gets you started. Let me know if it's any use.

As an update to this thread I have written a new version of the MetaDash widget, with numerous improvements (resizing, scrollwheel support, automatic updates, variable update timing, cache bug fixes, and others). Screenshots and downloads are available from the linked site.

So we have a bunch of intelligent os x programmers out there, right? Anybody willing and able to create a dashboard widget that spits out the past 10 threads in MeFi, or favorites that someone might want to track, or threads with the latest comments, etc? I just upgraded to Tiger and love the widgets; unfortunately, not enough of them are seriously practical for me. This, on the other hand, would be very useful.

Feature request: a MeFi This! link similar to Blogger's Blog This! feature. The upside: easy to post. The downside: more FFPs on Metafilter. Good idea, or really bad?
