Will Ferrell death hoax March 14, 2006 11:32 PM   Subscribe

Will Ferrell not dead. A story about the actor’s death in a paragliding accident on The Blue today was deleted so fast, I was not sure if I am hallucinating again or what. So it was a hoax and should disappear

That FPP got my hopes up. That's the real reason I'm angry about it.

I like how, even though pretty early on in the thread people realised it was a hoax, people still did the "." that seems obligatory for everyone to do in obit posts.

It was already deleted, so I don't get what I'm supposed to do here. The link has a nofollow, and even if you follow it you end up on a "no matching press release here" page.

Really, what is this post about? I mean, I'm always happy with a good discussion of the undead, but I'm not quite sure what anyone was supposed to do. Form a circle and denounce the hoax at the top of our lungs?

Perhaps growabrain wanted the post completely deleted (you know, "Nothing to see here, move along"), so that every trace of the fact that it ever existed would be wiped from the face of MeFi. For its very existence, even in noindex/nofollow form, is anathema.

Amazingly, the phrase "The Will Farrell death thingy was just a hoax! He's really alive and kicking! Babies!" is phonetically identical to an invocation of the demon Belial.

So, to answer your question, yes.

This will carry more weight with the Gods if we do it at the Equinox.
