Weird Timing This was just posted in response to a question asked later in the thread and it seems to have been time stamped two hours earlier.

Before the question was asked, even.

Yeah, same thing happened in the blue: I responded at 7:13 and my post was marked 7:13 but a bunch of other posts are showing up after stamped in the future :

Same here. Last post in a thread shows at 6:06pm PST, and mine posted a few minutes ago is appearing at the correct time, high up in the comments.

Heh -- time to get creative, and write things like "[user], I just KNOW you're going to say something like [exact quote from "future" comment]!"

Look, Artifice_Entity is magic! Posted an hour and a half after me, and I just posted!

Something is wrong. It says the number of comments is going up on a bunch of different posts... but no new comments can be seen.

Same here. I just thought dirtynumbangelboy was psychic.

I got hit by that too, in this thread. I didn't see my comment at the bottom of the page, so I assumed it had not been posted, and tried posting it again.

It's actually above the comment I replied to. Heh.

If M/J didn't have to clean this up at some point, it would be quite fun to mess with.
posted by cribcage at 4:29 PM on April 20, 2006

Well, matt should be able to fix this by sorting comments by ID rather then by date.

They're going on the page, they're just being inserted into the middle of the page.

If M/J didn't have to clean this up at some point,

In this context I first thought you were referring to Michael J. (Fox.)

All right, come clean. Who is the asshole who built the time machine?

The timestamp on the server appears to be fucked up. Nothing more.
posted by kyleg at 4:34 PM on April 20, 2006

Yeah, the time on the database server was off -- it got set automatically by the time server, and apparently it has been off for a while, but I just set it back to the proper time zone.

I'll reorder comments by ID, instead of by date stamp.

matt: might want to switch to UTC. But ordering by ID rather then date is probably the best solution.

Damn, looks like the MeFi Cabal finally perfected their time machine.

Keep an eye out on past threads. You just know they're going to change what they said. The whole incident was just too embarassing to leave alone. A few days from now they'll have erased its history, leaving their opponents in disarray and confusion. Archive it all, keep the hope alive!

Should be fixed now, with everything in proper order (you should see some comments at 6 something PM, then followed by some two hours earlier.

Man do I ever feel vinicated.

Best of all, before the bug was fixed you could hold SHIFT and type "P B J" to watch a Family Guy clip.

For the record, My Comments functionality is still a bit impaired, but I'm not sure that'll be an issue in another hour or two.

Wow, I submitted a MeTa post without any criticism. And I had a great flameout ready.

There's still time...

Cool, all fixed. I'll fix up mycomments/posts but it should fix itself in a few hours for most people.
