Bug: Really, REALLY favorite pages September 20, 2006 8:07 PM   Subscribe

Both the adding and removing favorites confirmation pages reload endlessly.

If I add a favorite, I quickly see the confirmation page, which is replaced by the "You've already marked this as a favorite" message. If I remove a favorite, the confirmation page reloads itself over and over many times a second.

Oh - and I'm using Firefox 1.5 on a Mac.

Works fine for me on Camino, also on a Mac.

You're probably using some kind of software that munges the HTTP referer header.

this would be a great feature to add to the flagging and best answer pages as well.

I do use an extension that doesn't show an HTTP referer, now that you mention it. I don't even think about it any more. What about this makes the pages loop endlessly?

Because it uses the referer that your browser sends to redirect you back to the page you came from, and many of these "referer blocker" things just set the referer to the current page, thus you get in a loop.

I think Matt redirects back to the referring page, after the confirmation. This sends you back to where you were. But if you have no referring page because it's blanked, it gets confused and just reloads endlessly.

Well then. Thanks all. I'll disable the extension for metafilter.
