Simple Twist of Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate April 9, 2007 9:16 PM   Subscribe

So, as the guy who posted Dylan Hears a Who, I'm uniquely shamefaced to have failed to download the mp3 files before the Geisel estate pulled the plug. Does anyone know of a working mirror, or, failing that, could anyone contact the address in my profile to... um... discuss this further?

I'm rooting for ya, stagger.

I don't know what you're talking about.

And it's rather disappointing the Seuss people had had the site shut down. What did they have to lose by having that site up? It's not like people were gonna say "Hey, I've heard Gertrude McFuzz here, now I'm not gonna buy the book!" If anything, it seems like it could only have had a positive effect on Seuss book sales. And it was done so well, with, I think, a lot of respect for the Seuss material. Oh well...

A little bird tells me that adding 'bittorrent' to your google search might be productive.

email in profile, if anyone else is thoroughly uninterested, because torrents are too damn slow.

When you posted it I immediately mirrored it (right then) on one of my servers for exactly this reason. It's still right where I left it: http://www.wabdo.com/fred/zimmerman-geisel.zip. Fucking typed the URL from memory. A regular fucking boy scout, I am, what with all of the preparedness.

The zip on my server is of the files that were referenced by the original flash-applet on the webpage -- the ones in the torrent appear to be the ones that the artist later linked to directly (which were of a higher bitrate).

And we still don't know who the artist was!

blasdelf: I see it's still on your server (as well as several other interesting things :-)), but I get a 403 on the file. Could you please allow downloads? (pretty please?)

Sorry about that, the link is fixed now.

I had left the permissions 700 accidentally! `chmod -R a+r ./ # 4 life!`

At least it was Seuss and not Dylan who C&D'd them.

Bless you people... bless you! blasdelf you're a good person for doing this :)

Stupid freakin' lawyers who are so out of touch with what's important. Pathetic. (err, what flapjax said, but more eloquently).

Oh my.

This is actually as good as you people are saying.

Thank you, blasdelf. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,.

(and staggernation, for posting it in the first place.)

Oh my indeed! It is so goddamn good for serious.

The mirroring is just something I do reflexively when I witness such awesomeness.
