Time-outs are getting more frequent (2/5/02) February 5, 2002 6:04 PM   Subscribe

The time-outs have been getting nasty here lately. I was thinking if you removed the comments search from the search options things would pick up. I've never gotten a time out from searching just the threads, even from day 1.

Or maybe just block a comment search from day 1. Limit it to one of the more recent options perhaps? Or some other limitation. As far as doubles go, I never considered a post that was mentioned in a comment a double anyway.

The google search seems to work really well for anything over a couple weeks old. Does the MeFi search do something better?

Yeah, I say let Google do the archive-delving and just keep Mefi search for recent stuff.

Is that being mean to Google, or is it in their job description?
